4 Reasons Waiting To "See" If Attraction Marketing Works Before Telling Your Downline Is Dumb.

Are you waiting to see if attracting marketing and Internet prospecting produces BIG income and leads for you before you share it with your team?

After a conversation with one of my sucbribers who also happens to be a top producing offline recruiter with a mature MLM company, I wondered how many more of my peers were wrestling with the same dilema.

Here is my response to the concerns of having personal proof before you denouce your triffling offline ways for the way of the now and the immediate future even if (or especially if) you have a huge following.

They Aren't Gonna To Wait On You To "Get It"Before They Get It

Your current team is either already looking on line for solutions or they are about to be. Unless, of course, they've already quit the business. They are out here on the Internet and if they don't find you, they will find other people including but, not limited to me, more than willing to show them the

attraction marketing

way!

It's happened already the a guy I met on myspace who told me, "The only reason I meet people online is to take them offline and get into their warm market".

I say don't drink the kool-aide my friend. People are not too keen to those methods anymore.

A few weeks later I was contacted by a representative in the same company, and lived in the same city. I couldn't help but ask if she knew who he was. She also happened to be in his downline! We met me on a social network... and the rest is history. I never had the heart to tell him to this day.

"I Want To Recruit People The Way You Recruited Me!"

You will see a decline in the willingness to do old school methods of prospecting. When I recruited my very first handful of recruit from Internet prospecting I was so jacked out of my mind! I just knew my upline would be support what we were doing and even learn it and teach it. I was so wrong!

I made the mistake of allowing my upline to still do all the training, which of course, was all the old school stuff and they had moderate success. As soon as they were out of their "quick start" bonus days, the "I'm new..." line got old and ran through their warm market list, they called me. The question was always some variation of: "Show me how I could recruit others the way you recruited me".

That is where the trouble started.

My Last Conference Call

The last upline sponsored conference I was began with me and my team being chastised, albeit indirectly, for not following the "proven system". I knew then I would have to pull away completely if me and my partners in crime were to be successful.

Between a rock and a hard place, I had no real choice... I would have rather quit network marketing all together before I continued down that trail of tears another day.

Suddenly learning to build a landing page and learning HTML wasn't looking so hard after all :-).

They Will Wonder Why You Didn't Tell Them First

A general rule of thumb for me had always been to make sure what ever I was about to do was absolutely going to duplicable in my sales team. If is wasn't going to be something simple enough, for a 9 year old to understand, or cheap enough for a college student to afford, DON"T DO IT!

That was my idea of the K.I.S.S. principle. But you know what? This over simplification was part of the problem of with holding valuable information from your teams.

This is where the distrust starts.

When you are up on stage training on how to do this business using these neanderthal old school tactics of the names list and 3 foot rule, your team is wondering if those are the same methods you are using. The answer more often than not is NO!

When is the last time you did a 3 way call to your upline after telling your prospect, "I'm new and I don't want to mess it up by trying to explain it..." give me a break!

You don't do it and they don't want to do that either. They want to be empowered and equipped with the latest tools they will need to build big businesses in the current economy and beyond.

If you value your relationship with your team you will want to be the first to tell them. I wonder if what if anything my upline knows about Internet prospecting and automated Lead generation, PPC, craigslist advertising, banners etc. I wonder why it was never offered as an option when other things obviously wasn't working.

You Are Looking For Ways To Solve That Problem And They Are Too

Have you ever had a close friend or family member join someone else's team in the same company as you? Or maybe they joined a whole different company all together?

If it has ever happened to you, I want you to recall the nausea you felt that day for a moment.

If it hasn't happened to you, yet, it will if you cling to the idea that you want to wait to see if this whole Internet thing is just a fad or maybe not worth while to learn.

This doesn't even include the people who aren't even a part of your team but are by passing you at the grocery store while they on their iPhones reading about starting an online home based business.

And what are you doing? Trying to schedule that meeting with the church pastor or basketball coach for the 3rd time... not realizing they are on the 3rd day of the

Magnetic Sponsoring

video that is telling them how NOT to be you!

And What If They Master It First

I don't know about you but, I would take it lightly if someone on my team mastered Internet prospecting before me and was now training me! Call it ego, pride, whatever you like but, one thing you won't call me is LATE!

When you see your former downline is already an established leader online by the time you decide to catch a clue how will you feel? Would you be willing to loose a great sales force because you were being stubborn about the inevitability of the Internet as a primary prospecting tool.

Although I know you don't mind learning from and collaborating with team members, if you're my upline (or aspire to be), you should always lead the pack!

Great post!

This is so true!  I agree that we should share resources right away!  Although Magnetic Sponsoring has changed the way that I advertise my business.  I always suggest to Team members to share with Friends, Family, Co-workers etc through conversation.  I tell them if you fail to share resources that can help the next person, and they happen to meet me online/offline ooops...They will be apart of my team!

Most Drivers will do just that- Search for ways to solve their problems! If you know that you have a Driver on your team, put them at the top of the list, and contact them right away before, Malika Duke will!

Malika, thanks for the reminder;-)

Hey Malika What a great

Hey Malika

What a great article and it may even hit close to home :-) Some of us who have been with the old school are a little slow to embrase the new school because of all the things we have done using the neandethal methods you spoke of to build our MLM business that plain didn't work. So there is just a little hesitancy to make a same mistake with another approach. But your points are valid. if we don't let them know about the magnetic approach someone else will. So I will get on with it and get them on the bandwagon.

I have been there thats how I know.

@Robert,

Before I knew what the heck I was doing. I told my team exactly what I was NO LONGER doing. It's not about "getting them on the bandwagon"as it is about letting go of the need to control the out come.

I sent the the links and resources I came across and allowed them to come to their own conclusions of where they wanted to join me.

It was a risk I was willing to take because it was necessary, vital even to my integrity as they choosen leader. They trust me and I have a responsibility to earn that trust everyday through word and action.

My first affiliates sales came directly from my front line but it wasn't because we weren't going to be freinds regardless of what they did and I NEVER made it a requirement for me to continue to help them grow they business regardless of how they choose to do it.

Thank you for your comments. I appreciate you partner! :-)

Gave You A Vote

Malika, I finally made it to your profile. How are ya? I enjoyed your article, but I especially loved this line:

"If it wasn't going to be something simple enough, for a 9 year old to understand, or cheap enough for a college student to afford, DON"T DO IT!"

Your absolutely right about sharing the newest concept's with team members so that someone else won't. And if it's your own material, in my case, it SHOULD be simple enough to get, and cheap enough for cheap people to buy (I've been wrestling with pricing ideas for a few weeks). I'm glad I read this article though, because I was reminded I need to let out ALL the secrets! I think people have a hard time doing that, thinking that if they give away their secrets....they won't have any "secret weapons" left....which is totally untrue. Attraction Marketing IS the secret weapon!
