Amazing Results!
Here is howI used the strategies of Magnetic Sponsoring to turn around a Short-Sale Telemarketing phone call and convert it into a lead that later on that day resulted into a new distributor for my business....AMAZING RESULTS!!!
Before I came onboard, I was very shy and most of the time felt intimidated when talking to strangers either face to face or over the phone...I don't know why....maybe it was because I was not comfortable enough with my English skills…and like many new people in the industry, I did not know how to deal with rejection…
On Feb 23 of 2008....A DAY I WILL REMEMBER FOR THE REST OF MY NETWORKER CARRIER...I received a phone call from a guy asking information about the Short-Sale listing I have in the city of San Francisco (I am a Realtor by the way)... I have received a few calls before from Short-Sales Telemarketers and turned them away but something different happened with this particular one.
At the beginning I thought he was a buyer or a buyer's agent wanting to see the property so I let him speak and see what questions he might have. After a minute of talking, I noticed he kept asking about if I felt confident the house was going to sell so I told him I was very confident and that in fact, we already had an offer which is being reviewed by the bank and I asked him if he wanted to see the property and , maybe submit an offer as well since the price is very attractive…Well, he turned out to be a "small business owner"(that's what he called himself) and he was trying to sell me a seminar on Short-Sales...so I thought Great!!!....another one of those info calls....so I was ready to tell him "No I'm not interested" and hang up but......MAGNETIC SPONSORING....took over and in split seconds my Mind Set changed and I took a totally different approach....I thought "Lets test this guy to see how good is he at selling".....so instead of hanging up on him, I started to ask a few "REALTOR" questions about Short-Sales.
I interrupted him many times to see if he was a leader…you know, like Mike said in his training, "some time people will test us to see if we have the leader personality"... so I did…..and basically I got in control of the conversation....IT FELT GREAT!!!!...I was experiencing every thing that Mike and Mark were talking about during the Black Belt Recruiting Calls....the guy started to get a little nervous and hesitating when answering my questions about Short-Sales.....the conversation lasted about 5 min....after that I said you know what "JoE" (I'm not going to reveal his real name) let me ask you a few more questions:
1. How long have you been on sales? or how long have you been in this business? He replied...huh...about a year....why?
2. How much money have you made already? (did you noticed I did not let him get back in control, instead, I fired my second question) Well...huh…he said....I made a few deals here and there but there's a lot of money to make in this market and you as a Realtor know that…right?
3. Are you a realtor “JoE”? ...humm No!...but I have a friend who is a Realtor and he is doing “this thing” also and he has made tons of money already......(notice his hesitation there and how he pointed out how his friend is doing lots of money…I don’t care about his friend…wht I needed to know was if HE could have beneficial information for Me)... I remember this from one of the first lessons I learned while watching Magnetic Sponsoring Boot Camp FREE videos haha….good stuff, good stuff.
4. …and my last question was How do you take constructive criticism?....excuse me? he replied...I asked you how do you take constructive criticism.....in other words, I would like to give you a feedback on what I noticed during our conversation and why I was not sold with your scripts....Would you like to know that"JoE"? ....he was silent for about 5 secs.....I asked..."JoE" are you still there?....he replied yah!...yah! Definitely yah! I would like to know what I did wrong!....then I said....ok...first of all ...there's no wrong here....your technique was good but not efficient enough to attract some one that aparently knows more on the subject than you do, but...don't get discouraged by that....it is a stepping stone that you will learn from, and use it in your advantage later on.
At this point my confidence level was way up to the sky and for a very few seconds I was nervous myself and afraid as was going to blow it at some point, specially this far in the game…but I believed in myself and how much I wanted to get to this point so I turned away from the phone for a split second and took a deep breath (good thing this was a phone conversation and no a face to face interview haha)
Here is the best part.....OK "JoE" ...this is what I got from you so far.....and I went over the points he did not cover and the way he answered my questions; his hesitation and fill-in words; the way he delivered his message; how he was focusing more on what his friend has made and not him; how he was selling his friend and no himself; how he needed to project himself as an expert and a leader in order to grab my attention….To make a 20 min. conversation short, I took total control of the conversation and now....."JoE" without even realizing it, was becoming a prospect....so I TAUGHT him something...YES!....I see myself in the position of teaching someone now....I took my first step towards becoming a LEADER....(if you have read Magnetic Sponsoring, you know what I am talking about!!!)
So...I taught him about posture, gave him clear examples of how did I take control of the conversation and how strategically I chose my questions to get his attention....and later on....to finish this story, I told him I am in the Network Marketing business and I was working with GREAT people in the industry that had helped me to overcome fear & rejection; helped me to project myself as a leader and talk with posture…
I spent another 10 min. listening to his story on how he was struggling at his job and how he decided to get into the Real Estate business when he attended a Short-Sale seminar and paid a BIG amount of money for the 3 day training…then I told him: I kind of know how you feel “JoE” because I kind of went the same route.
At this point he was very curious already and wanted to know more…so instead of spending another hour and tell him about MY BUSINESS (which probably would have been a big mistake), I told him I was in my car outside of my client’s house and could not spend more time on the phone with him…but…instead, I used “GAP” (another tool I learned from Mike and Mark)… I said: “JoE” Grab APen…and gave him a few seconds and said...you’re ready? And gave him my website and about three hours later he called me back to guide him through the sign up process.....after that I spend another 30 minutes talking to him about how Magnetic Sponsoring have helped me to unleash the skills I thought I never had so I am using the same techniques I learned to guide my new recruit…
If you are struggling with your business.....don't give up...hang in there and with the right training and the desire you put towards reaching your goals, you will see the light at the end of the tunnel and "thatlittle dimmed light after a long period of darkness will keep you going towards it and you will strive for more until you shine like a star"
