Are You Branding or Positioning?

Think about what message you want to portray. What do you want the recipients of your message to think about you? Are You Branding or Positioning?Maybe you’re thinking about 'branding' with regard to your marketing efforts, but you’re not exactly sure what it means. Some people think branding is like positioning, but it is different. Positioning is a fluid concept. In other words, you can position yourself at different times in different markets as different things. Branding is more set in stone - it's a hard-core recognition factor. Branding is more about following this rule: You want to create a consistency, a familiar look and feel. And you want that familiar look and feel on every thing you put out; this way people will associate your collateral with you.  Branding is just like the old coat of arms that families used to have connected with their name. It would instill respect, fear, and wealth - whatever. Likewise, a country's flag gets people to feel a certain way about their country. Think about what message you want to portray. What do you want the recipients of your message to think about you? What image of you do you want to put out there? That is your brand. When people see you continually as one thing, they begin to expect the same from you and they get used to you. People do business with people they know, like, and trust. Your message conveys your Brand, which allows people to get to know you. Your content provides credibility which leads people to like and ultimately trust you. This makes you an ideal candidate with whom to conduct business.   Stop the Presses:   “Old Dog Learns New Tricks!”  Former 44 year-old print shop owner shares his money making web 2.0 home-based business tax strategies.
