Are YOU Completely MISSING The Point With “Magnetic Sponsoring”?
Are you too busy building your own business to serve your fellow networkers? If so, even if you think you are, you are not practicing Magnetic Sponsoring.
As I’m sitting here clicking through the blogs and articles posted on these pages, I’m noticing something...
I’m struck by how little engaged most people are. And before I go on, I’ll be quick to raise my own hand and admit that I’m guilty of this too. It was only recently that I became convicted of my lack of involvement and decided to make a change.
What am I talking about? Well, for one, I’m talking about the fact that at the top of each and every article and blog posted the following statement can be found, “please vote to ensure best content for all”.
But here’s what I find as I scan the community postings: “164 views, 7 votes”, “98 views, 4 votes” – even Mike Dillard's posting only got 10 votes out of 344 views. 10 out of 344?!
That means only three percent of those that clicked on his article actually took the time (i.e. half a second) to rate it!
Another thing is the absence of “comments” posted to the members’ articles… Doesn’t anyone have anything to say about what they read on these pages?
I’m not suggesting you have to write a lengthy commentary to every single article you read -- most of the time, a simple “Great article, Joe”, or “Thanks, Jane, I agree” will do just fine...
And how about posting a comment to one of the new people’s article, someone who’s new to the industry and/or the concept of Magnetic Sponsoring?
Okay, so maybe their article isn’t the most fantastic piece of writing you’ve ever come across, but so what? Everyone needs encouragement, and especially when they are brand new!
I remember when I posted my first article here in the community. I was of course very excited, and anxious to see what kind of feedback I would get. But -- somewhat to my dismay -- only a couple of people gave me their vote, and only one person actually wrote a comment to my posting.
However, his comment was an encouraging one, and since it was the only one I got, I remember that it meant a great deal to me.
Let’s not allow our community to become some sort of a replay of high school, where only the “popular” kids get any attention. ;)
Let’s stay involved!
You’ll be surprised at how little time it actually takes to post a brief comment here and there. And you may be surprised at how fun it can be!
I’m obviously not suggesting that we flatter or say things we don’t really mean. But isn’t it, in fact, true that we can usually find something positive to comment on in other people if we just take a moment to look for it?
And if you think someone’s posting is only worth 2 stars, well then, give them their 2 stars! It’s just as important to bring a critique as approval, so don’t refrain from voting when it’s a low score you’re giving. Give the person a sense of how she or he is doing...
...and then, next time, they can shoot for 3 or 4 stars.
Another thing I have started to do recently is to welcome new members. I take time each and every day to send brief emails to our brand new members, wishing them welcome to the community.
And the response I have gotten during the short while I’ve been doing this, has been quite remarkable: I almost always get an email back where the new person thanks me for reaching out to them.
It just goes to show how much it means to people when you take notice of them.
I also read the new members’ profiles. Yep -- I actually take the time to read the “about me” section! See, if I’m going to request someone’s friendship, then I want to know something about that person. If not, then they’ll be nothing but yet another name and picture added to my site.
And I don’t consider that networking...
Reading about the past experiences, struggles, and victories of the new people coming in also gives me a fresh feel for what’s going on out there in the big world of network marketing, beyond the fences of Magnetic Sponsoring. It helps me stay informed.
We’re all extremely busy, I know. My schedule is just as jam-packed as everyone else’s. But let us not get so busy that we don't have the time to give a word of encouragement to someone who needs it.
Let’s not get so absorbed with our own “stuff” that we completely forget the spirit of Magnetic Sponsoring.
It’s about giving back, right? About serving others…
“Before you can have, you need to learn how to give without want”.
Remember that phrase? Right -- Mike said that. Don’t miss that one. Because, if you do, then you really have missed the mark…
