Are You Flipping BLIND?

A new comer to BN and the industry has posted 1 or 2 threads recently, looking for support and promising an interesting journey - 1 currently active thread she started is at http://www.betternetworker.com/forums/main-mlm-discussion-f2/new-plan-i-...

Here's my beef - on several occassions she made it quite clear how she wants to be addressed, and what kind of interaction she is particularly interested in.

Even after quite forcefully pointing out to all how she wants to be communicated to, she still gets responses from people who either deliberately ignore her requests or are so wrapped up in their own little worlds that they simply don't see her request.

We're in a service industry here people!!! If we can't respond with respect to the clear requests of others, what hope do we have when they aren't so clear about this sort of thing and we're trying to build a relationship with them.

No wonder the MLM/NM industry has a poor reputation - it seems deserved if so many people behave this way (and I know I was guilty of this not that long ago... might still be - let me know!)

So let's rename the industry RELATIONSHIP MARKETING - may be then we'd pay more respect to the needs and wishes of the other party...

Right, I'm off my soap box now. Have a good weekend.

Cheers

Martin

You Make A Good Point

We all should try to help one another whenever we can. Too many people are still treating this industry like it's all about them, trying to step on anyone and everyone to reach the top and only helping those that will help them. It shouldn't be this way. If we have to give before we can receive, then give. At the least you just might get a good referral from that person.

Best wishes to you,

It gets me too.

Martin,

I completely get your point and I deal with this day in and day out. People say they are very interested in my business and want to review my material. I check to make sure they've gotten it, set a time to speak again and wait... and wait... and... well, you get the point.

Here's what I've learned. People are people are people and they are going to do what they do and not do what they don't do. We all fall into that category.

What I can suggest to you is to make your request and don't be upset because you have an expectation of what people should or should not do. Every once and a while I am even able to do that myself. ;-)

Agree with your point

Agree with your point however as a Disability Advocate can I ask we take care with this type of post headline. I know you meant no direspect but often it's in the reaction of the recipient. Good post and gave you a thumbs up.
