Are You Living In The Past Or The FUTURE?
Today I would like to spend just a moment talking about how your past does not dictate your future! I say “just a moment” because that is all the time you should spend worrying or dwelling on your past”, it deserves nothing more. Your focus and concentration belongs on your future!
You may have come from a life of poverty but that doesn’t mean you have to be poor or that you shouldn’t expect to receive more than what you ever had! You may have been conditioned by those around you as you grew up to only expect the minimum, or perhaps you were even told that you weren’t good enough to have what other people had. Well, that is only true if you let it be true.
History does not have to repeat itself. Your past or your history, only prepares you for the future that you are creating. We all studied history in school so that we could learn from it and the mistakes that our leaders made in the past. In my family, we have a long standing joke from generation to generation, about the “Kennedy Curse”. Sure many of us Kennedy’s have blamed each mishap in our lives on the old Family curse but that hasn’t stopped Kennedy after Kennedy from becoming successful in whatever path they chose to follow. It’s important to know your family’s history as it relates to traditions or medical issues so that you can prepare yourself for or against them but not as means of outlining your own future.
You are the only one that can change your future. If you continue to do the things that you have done in the past that brought you to where you are today and that is not where you want to be, then CHANGE IT. Each decision you make in life, determines what will happen next. If you do not like the way things are happening then change what you are doing. It will not happen without your effort and decision to make it so.
Your past is important, it is a part of you and has helped to mold the type of person that you are today. Each of things that happened prior to this point in your life gave you new skills or new opinions of what is right and what is wrong, what is worth having and what is not. Molds can be broken and new ones created. However, if you are still holding onto the past, the burden will be too heavy for you to move forward.
Get rid of all limiting beliefs about what you are or are not capable of!
Think of today as a fresh start, a new beginning, nothing else matters but the next steps you take!
PUT THE PAST WHERE IT BELONGS, IN THE PAST! AND BEGIN TO CREATE YOUR FUTURE!
