Have you ever blown it with a really sharp prospect? Some one you knew would be just perfect for your business and you were excited they agreed to come take a look at your offer!?

I would offer to pick them up to make sure they got to the business opportunity meeting. I would call them and remind them several times about the date time and location.

And most of the time they wouldn't show up!

They seemed interested in the business in the beginning… but you somehow managed to screw it up anyway?

I know I have.

And after it would happen, I would rack my brain for weeks trying to figure out what I did wrong.

I would act out every possible scenario in my mind…

“What if I had said this instead of that?”

“Maybe I should have called them on Thursday instead of waiting 2 days… Did it look like I was playing games? Or maybe I should have waited 3?”

"Maybe they were playing games and I was just talking to the wrong person? My upline warned me about people like that!"

I would go through these scenarios over and over again—in my mind and to my uplines… no doubt driving them nuts. They would assure me, "You can't say the wrong thing to the right person, and can't say the right thing to the wrong person."

I would eventually figure out where I thought I had made my mistake… and swear not to ever make that same mistake again.

And then I’d meet another great prospect…

I would promise myself that THIS TIME… I was going to do it right.And guess what happened?

You got it. I would manage to screw it up again.

The only difference between you and the “naturals” is that you haven’t fully developed it. No one has ever told you what “it” is… and what it’s all about.

This secret is called PROFESSIONALISM.

By virtue of being a representative/distributor/ independent business relatively recently, in most companies, most of us are basically not offered the process of “becoming a professional” the way MLM started off years ago. (click here to learn more on the The History of MLM)

When network marketing (MLM) first became a profession, (it is really a profession you know) before you even had your "license" to build a team and recruit you had to prove you could move products. There were quota's that separated the leaders from the wanna-bes.

Once you were confident you could get customers and move product you were groomed for leadership. You were confident you know how to teach your prospects what they needed to be successful in business because you proved to yourself that you knew how to do it.

This skill of customer acquisition and leadership development made you very attractive as a sponsor and people sought you out to be on your team. You were now in a position to be selective about who you invite onto your team.

When the customer quotas were removed or reduced to help business grow faster it also reduced the professionalism requirement. That coupled with big upfront sponsoring bonuses made it so the recruiting mlm prospects became the name of the game.
