Attraction Marketing 101
Anyone promoting an MLM, network marketing, or affiliate program these days should know the value of Attraction Marketing, and how to use it effectively. What is it? In a nutshell, it is positioning yourself as the leader (or the "wizard") that both your team and your prospects are looking for. People want and need to be led -- no matter what business opportunity you are promoting, they end up buying from how they feel about you and you alone. Therefore, it is largely about positioning and branding yourself as a leader, and this is done partially by mindset but more importantly also in how you approach your business. This article forms Part 1 of an on-going series on Attraction Marketing tips and techniques.
Frankly, anyone can do it -- many of the top leaders and Internet marketing gurus were themselves struggling not so long ago. That is, until they learned how to position themselves as the leader or expert in their field. They did not just happen upon some secret marketing tool or special hidden list of hot prospects. However, you can certainly spend a lot of money, effort, and time with "old school" tactics such as buying leads and cold calling, or even by warm calling, the "3-foot rule", networking, and prospecting strangers. Nevertheless, most now agree that the best way to build a successful home business is with attraction marketing, Internet marketing, savvy capture pages, list building, automated sales funnels, and using Web 2.0 marketing strategies.
Most of us start out with an MLM or network marketing opportunity with a generic lead capture or splash page. These are usually created by the owners of your opportunity. While some can still be effective in drawing leads to you if you can drive enough traffic to them, ideally you are still better off if you have a capture page that promotes and "brands" you. This might take a little extra effort at the beginning, but remember that you are now building your enterprise. It will take more effort, but it will pay you much more than simply building someone else's business.
Another key is offering value to your prospects. Your web content should be written and designed to offer incredible value, content and training that your prospects are seeking. They are NOT being "sold to", instead they receive incredible training and resources whether they buy anything from you or not. Offering value builds trust with your prospect, so they are much more willing to buy your recommendations and join you in business. As a result, you will literally be building relationships with hundreds, even thousands of people. This business is still, and always will be a relationship business. The more relationships you create, ultimately you can sponsor more distributors in a month than you did all last year!

I totally agree with you. The key to success is relationship building. So often people tell you that 'the money is in the list' and everyone falls for it. They end up paying a small fortune to get some 'leads' into their list and then wonder why they're still not making any money.
The money is NOT in the list.
