Become a Believer in People

Have you ever noticed how many people support a sports team as soon as it starts winning? That happened a few years ago when I lived in Seattle. The Seahawks won the NFC Title game to go to their first every Superbowl. The entire City went nuts! People put bumper stickers on their cars, flags on the front of their homes, we even had Seahawk day where everyone was supposed to wear a Seahawk jersey or shirt to work the Friday before the Super Bowl. There were pep rallies downtown with the local media on hand to rally the fans, even the mayor of the city came and got in a word or two with his Seahawk jersey worn proudly.

Everyone loves a winner. It's easy to have faith in people who have already proved themselves. It is much harder to believe in people before they have proven themselves. But that is one of the keys to motivating people to reach their potential. You must believe in them first, before they become successful, and at times before they even believe in themselves. But you must have faith in yourself before you can have faith in someone else. You need to have faith in others before you can persuade them to believe in themselves.

Some people in life desperately want to believe in themselves but have little hope. I believe every person has the ability to do something great in their lives, even though they may currently be unsure of themselves. When you believe in people, you water the seeds and give them the chance to grow. Keep encouraging them through your belief in them, then these people will bloom.
