Being a Good Mentor

What does it mean to be a mentor? Most people don't have a knack for spotting their greatest areas of potential. They need help doing it especially as they begin growing and striving to reach their potential. That is why it is important for you to become a mentor in the lives of people you desire to help. You need to lead them in the areas of personal and professional growth until they are able to work in those areas on their own.

Giving them the motivation to grow and succeed without also providing then the way to do it or the how to is a shame. The mentoring process offers people the opportunity to turn potential into reality, their dreams into their destiny. Leading mentors help the people they are training into growth and areas of strength.

In my opinion one of the best things you can do for someone is to assist them and help them succeed in life, both personally and professionally. Helping them believe in themselves and their abilities. Helping someone develop their gifts and their talents, learn new skills and see their quality of life improve dramatically is a great thing.

A good mentor not only motivates and trains a person but also gives constructive criticism when necessary. A person needs to know when they are doing something wrong so that they can learn from their mistakes. Learning from our mistakes is important and part of life. At the same time a good mentor will help a person focus on their strengths and not their weaknesses.

To help people grow give them good resources to read and study. You can't do the learning for them they have to be committed to improve their lives and grow. A successful mentor evaluates the potential of others and places them in position to succeed in their endeavors. When you enrich others by helping them grow and enlarge themselves, you will not only bring joy to them and yourself, but you also increase your influence and their ability to help others as well. If you give your time to mentoring others to success ,without expecting something in return, the rewards you reap will be better than you can imagine.

So don't wait any longer. Look for someone to mentor, don't just pick anyone though. Find someone you already know that wants the help and needs it, someone who is willing to grow and listen to your advice.
