BetterNetworker EXPOSED! It’s One Big Bait and Switch…
...What Have I Gotten Myself Into?
I’ve been a part of BetterNetworker for about a week now. I came here to build my business and find like-minded people to network with.
What better place to find prospects and build a generate leads I though?
I was skeptical at first and for good reasons. Who offers so much for free without expecting anything in return? I went against my gut instincts and joined the community anyway.
What did I get myself into?
The results people were getting, particularly Fernando, led me to believe this was the next big prospecting tool in MLM.
I was shocked and a little taken back after I found what BetterNetworker is really about. They do a good job of hiding it, but if you look close enough you’ll see it’s one big bait and switch.
Yes, there is a hidden agenda.
I was lured in with the expectations of building my business. I expected to generate leads and sponsor new reps. Yeah, right.
Here Comes the Bait
Maybe it’s me, but I was under the impression that BetterNetworker would help me build my business online. That’s the last thing BetterNetworker is really about.
I thought I could:
- Submit a few articles, add my link and start to sponsor new distributors
- Add as many people as possible to my profile and be seen as a “Guru.”
- Post a few forum threads a week and people would click my links
- Create videos about my opportunity and submit them for others to view
Boy was I wrong!
BetterNetworker doesn’t care about what product you have to offer or what company you’re with.
BetterNetworker is NOT here to help you build your business. It is not here to help you find prospects or even generate leads.
Those are all results. I didn’t get it at first and it took a lot of self reflection for it to really sink in.
BetterNetworker was made to build ME and You, not our businesses. Growth in Your Business is Directly Related to Growth in You
BetterNetworker understands this concept and that’s the true nature of the site. They build you into the type of person that people want to follow. As a result your business grows exponentially.
In order to build your business you have to build yourself into someone who offers value without expectations. This means stop focusing on the results of your efforts and fall in love with the process.
Many distributors get caught up in the results and lose focus on the process. Our society is built that way. People expect to see results instantly like a microwave business-in-a-box.
“The Process” is where self-growth is made and where you find your real value.
You have to learn to love the process of becoming just as much as you do the results you’re getting. By doing so, you inevitably love the person you’re becoming and embrace your true uniqueness.
That’s some good bait don’t you think?
Here Comes The Hidden Switch
The switch for me came in the form of mindset and self-belief. When I first joined I was results focused. My ego was attached to my Guru points.
As one grew, so did the other.
I used to focus on my business, my income and my success. NOW, I focus on the same things, but for other people. The Switch involves replacing your needs with others. Ask yourself:
- How can you help your prospect generate income?
- How can you help your prospect become more successful?
- How can you help your prospect become a leader?
BetterNetworker was built on the foundation of helping others not building your business in so many terms.
The funny thing is, I generate more leads and sponsor more reps since “the switch” in mindset. I promoted the same product, same company, same comp plan but present a different mindset.
Just give without expectation. Clicks, leads, sponsoring people getting Guru points are all results of the process. That’s the switch that needs to happen in order to succeed in your business.
I can honestly say by far this was the best bait and switch I’ve ever seen.

Excellent
Excellent Article - well thought out and well written.
Thank you.
Talk about bait & switch, Jamaul!!
Your heading caught my attention - it sounding kind of negative and I thought you were having a bad experience here. I was concerned.
Great writing - Isee your process now and it was the same for me.
The promotion, the attraction, the 'sale' is Me! Me as a source of solution for others.
And the joy of doing that is indescribable. Its the same kind of program that AA uses to keep addicts sober, sponsor another and together you get better.
I hope you are enjoying the journey....and yes there is really a payoff....but you also get to connect with others and share their journey too.'
All the best to you Jamaul

Well Said Jamaul
Great article with a capture to suck one in. Great work and welcome the transformation. I have seen many that never make it to the switch. Actually I have found many switches and learn to embrase them.
You have the qualities of a great leader - keep up the good work.

I've Just Been Baited And Switched...
Great headline, Jamaul! Your story is a great lesson in bait and switch if you ask me.
Lure'em in with the bait, then hook'em and reel'em in for the catch.
You caught this fish.
Great way to describe the inner workings of BetterNetworker.
You've cracked the code.
Much success to you,
Dave
Many fish bite when you got good bait...
Your headline was bait enough, and the first half of your post chummed the waters, you turned it into a personal growth thread, good job!
wonderful!
hmmm. . . you're good! ditto on most of the above comments. I will add that following some of the BN threads is a great way for a newbie like me to learn about the right way to do social marketing. keep up the great work; will keep an eye out for more of your articles.

Awesome!
That was an awesome article. You make a very good point that "Growth in Your Business is Directly Related to Growth in You". How True! Keep up the good work.
great way to capture attention
I know the title sure got me wanting to open and read!
You bring up great points and I'm glad that you are finding out the same thing as me! This forum is such a great community and the people on here are excellent at sharing value and helping each other.
"You can always get what you want in life if you just help enough other people get what they want.”
this seems to be so true here. The more we help, the better WE become. Not just as a person, but as a community. The relationships we develop from here are more valuable than any other relationships I have developed so far. Thanks for the great post!
Funny, all of the sudden I like you :-)
I just joined yesterday, and literally this is the first article I read. Good to see there are good people here. I have just joined an opportunity, that is being launched soon, I have always known to give first and then you will get. So I am glad this site follows those same principles. I can't pretend to know what people want from this site, but I can always ask, and hope to be of service. Good luck Jamaul
Give vs. Take
Great intro to BN, my friend. You're right. It's the difference between giving to the community and taking from it.
Thanks for sharing this. I needed a little boost after dealing with an unruly subscriber of mine.
Advocacy
What a great job of explaining how to use BN to be an advocate for your prospects--concerned about their needs, connecting them with information that they need, caring if they succeed. Kudos.
great post
As a newbie here i just wanted to say hi, i enjoyed reading your article...thanks for the insightful post, i am inspired to read others

It's not even Better
It's not even Better Networker that's the problem, it's the people that make up this, and every other social media platform you'll ever come across. Just take a look at Twitter, there are loads of people doing nothing but self-promotion.
I'm not sure what you mean by saying:
"I used to focus on my business, my income and my success. NOW, I focus on the same things, but for other people. The Switch involves replacing your needs with others."
If you want to promote your business, this IS how you focus on your own success, income, business. You even said you joined the community because (quote):
"I thought I could:
It sounds to me like you're mad at other people for promoting their own agenda, but it's just fine for you. What your goals are (above) does not mesh with the atmosphere of social media (or even sucess in general, you DO have to give back in order to get what you want).
Sheree
Well done!
Hi Jamaul,
Well done, you've reminded me, again, what I should be doing!
Best regards,

Thanks for the response. I'm not quite sure if I understand you though.

I think offering value without expectations is the best way to attract customers. Not everything we do needs to have our links at the end. I do market with lead capture pages and such, but in a community like BN, I think a lot of people come for information and help. They feel they wont get prospected and sometimes just want information.
Yes I am promoting myself, but I am not asking for anything in return. As soon as the prospect knows you have other motives than just giving information your value becomes questionable.
Thanks for read.

RE:
Someone's been studying copywriting ;)
Glad to have you hear Jamaul :)
Nice job!
Nice job!
Almost had me there...
I had to hold "Carl the Cop" back long
enough to read your article.
Good job Jamaul.
Way to stir up a frenzy.
Disappointed
Good article but I was left disappointed as I had hoped someone had found something that I hadn't about BN. So far I can only see benefits & positives for your personal branding/business when using this site but am still keeping my eyes open for that 1 negative.
