Starting an internet network marketing business has become possible for anyone with a computer and internet access due to the world wide web.

You are able to work part time around our existing jobs or around your family. It is an exciting thought to work from home and comes with many advantages.

  • You don't have to go anywhere, you can even work in your pyjamas
  • You don't have to report to a boss because you are the boss
  • Takes away many of the stresses like organising kids for school, dropping kid off to day care, sitting in the traffic, office politics and last but not least the stability of your job.

With all the hype with the MLM and Network Marketing businesses many people believe running a home business is extremely easy.

But the truth is it is not easy and over 95% of the work from home businesses fail.

If you apply few disciplines and treat your home business like a business you cannot help but to be successful.
Once you start internet network marketing business that is successful you will find it will bring you great joy to you and your family.

Many people try to manage time, but the truth is you cannot mange time because it will be ticking anyway. If you know how to manage yourself then the result will be making the most of your time.

Not having a boss to look over your shoulder is a big disadvantage for many as they are programmed to work for someone for a long time. When you become your own boss, you will only be paid for your productivity, not for your time.
So if you have a block of time that you set aside to work on your internet network marketing business you need to make sure that you get the maximum productivity during that time.

Here are few points that I learned and help me to mange myself:

  1. Eliminate distractions: This is one of the most important things that you need to beware of. Divert your phone to the answer machine, switch off the email notifications and let the other at your home know that you are at work and cannot be disturbed.
  2. Focus on one task at a time: The best lesson I learned from Eban Pagan was that multitasking actually reduce your productivity. I know most of you believe otherwise. I used to until I listened to Eban. Now I know it is true.
  3. Every night before going to bed write down your tasks for the next day: I used to do this for many years, but didn't do well until I read an email from Mike Dillard.
Mike explains how he does it:
"Every night before I go to bed, I pull up my Word Pad file which I save as “To-Do.txt”, and I write down five tasks that I must complete the following day in order of importance."- Mike Dillard. Mike also gave an example of his to-do list and there were only 6 tasks. Well, the to-do list I used to have was over 15 things. No wonder I never completed them!
I read Mikes email few times and then started my writing down the most important must do items. I started with 3 tasks. I wanted to make sure that I complete the tasks I wrote without carrying them forward for weeks and months. That worked for me and now I have five or maximum six tasks and will not go back to my old style of writing a to-do list.
  4. Organise your week in advance: You may want to set aside some time on Sunday night to
organize our week. Know the times you are available for your business. This is very important if you are working around your children
  5. Last but not least stick to your plan: Have mentor or an accountability partner to report on your daily progress. This will help you to get on track and follow through on your tasks. This is an important point to consider until you develop your new habit.

If you can develop the habit of following your plan day in day out you can not help but succeed in your internet network marketing business.

Great article

Damayanthi

Great article - I'd like to add to your 5th point about sticking to your plan.  My productivity increased 10 fold when I made myself commit to a DMO or Daily Method of Operation.  This allowed me to plan my entire week not just my business time.

I've heard all sorts of excuses from people about not being able to commit to a strict plan - particularly from Mums working around children. If you are making excuses like this than you need to go through the planning process the most (IMHO).  The old adage holds true "Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail" - if you don't know in advance what you need to achieve each day how can you possibly accomplish it?  I work my business from home around the 2 youngest of our 5 children.  If I didn't have a DMO I wouldn't get anything done in my business. I tried it and I was just jumping from one 'urgent' thing to the next and driving myself (and my family) insane.

Do I always stick exactly to my plan? Nup! Kids get sick, life happens, but atleast I have a frame work of what needs to be achieved in order to grow my business and, importantly maintain family/work balance.

Without the plan I felt incredibly "busy" but accomplished little.  The major improvement I experienced by writing a plan/DMO, and working it, comes from having a "finish" time.  So I know what I need to do when, I've scheduled sufficient time to do each activity, and I know when I should STOP doing that activity.  Crucial to ensuring your business is growing but that you are in control instead of having your business "running you".

Love to hear others experiences/advice on this.

Cheers
