With all the warnings and controversy surrounding Work from Home businesses and MLM , how is your legitimate Home based business going to be able to survive?

Numerous Articles are being posted, practically everyday about being aware of home business scams and pyramid schemes. One article even states that there are only 3 legitimate home based businesses, while ironically, another unknowingly contradicts that statement, stating they list "the top 10 legitimate home based businesses." Did your legitimate home-based business make the top 10?

Mine did NOT, and it has a proven track record of over 17 yrs. And is still growing, by the way.

I admit, scams do exist, I've been burned by a few of them. I have since learned to open eyes, so to speak. Listen carefully, and if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. There are warning signs.

How I was able to be scammed while, involved in a legitimate business? For me it started with seeking to advertise my business online. That seemed to open the flood gates for every other offer to come my way.
It sounded good. Offering a way to make money quickly, with little effort; I should've seen it coming. I was a "newbie." Afterall, they all bosted they were making big checks and eagerly showed their "proof" of earnings.

I now realize anyone can make that up. And now when someone solicits me about a a fantastic new venture, I am likely to ask "are YOU making any money at it?"

There are some experienced, compassionate Internet Marketers willing to help you avoid the pitfalls. Fortunately, I have encountered a few of them.
They offer advice freely with informational e-books, free internet marketing courses, etc. and are not quick to ask you for money.

It was through this type of training that I learned about another scheme. I had no idea it even was a scheme. Everyone in IM knows having a list is important. But did you know that announcements for pre-launches where they ask you to join for free with your name and email and be ahead of the game when the site gets up and running is actually, just another way for a company to build a list?. Which they sell sometimes for thousands of dollars.

I also learned that joining startups is not a good idea. Why because most businesses fail in the first few years. It's best to join an established company around for atleast two years. Don't be in a hurry. If it is a good solid company, it will be around.

In closing, there are still good legitimate home based businesses. Take your time, do your research, focus, and find one or two that you can believe in, and stick with them. Avoid continuously joining the next best thing, before you know it you will have exhausted all of your energy into 10 different programs and not have any profit to show for all your hard work.

Feel free to comment and let me know about your legitimate home based business.
