"Caveat emptor" Let the Buyer Beware! How to Choose Your New Network Marketing Company

In the old days of MLM, there was usually only one method in which new prospects were funneled into a Network Marketing company.

First, most likely, you are prospected by someone. Then prompty followed up with. (no later than 24-48 hours)  Then, you are invited to an opportunity meeting at some hotel, to watch some enthusiastic dude in a three piece suit, spin circles on an dry erase board and telling  you now you can finally "take the kids on that Disney World Vacation, and pay off your Mothers mortgage."

"Now" says the MLM Allstar, " when you get home,  and can't sleep tonight, start imagining all your friends and family in each one of those little circles."

Still high from the marker fumes, after the presentation you are "love bombed" by the crowd and given your starter kit so you can get started on "that product" thats going to save the world!  Now, don't get me wrong.  I think some of the finest products in the world are being delivered to consumers through direct sales organizations.

But right in the middle of all the euphoria, your sponsor slides across the table, a form usually in triplicate and asks for your John or Jane Henrey in the dotted line and walah, you my friend, are a proud new business owner!   Yes, that pesky little formality loaded with legal "mumbo jumbo," you know, all that stuff, well, we have to put that in there, every company does that' kind of stuff."

Advance three years into the future.  You have defied all the odds and built yourself a nice little "residual" check.  You are cruising along, your making your 30K a month.  One day you stroll out to the mailbox, open up that check, and the blood rushes from your head.  YourBonus Money is GONE!! Your 30K has shrunk to say, 2K.  Along with your check is a letter from corporate stating that per "Policies and Procedures" you did not qualify last month or your "Star Commander" bonus due to "inconsistant activity" for the last two months!

In your anger, you dig out your pay-in-advance  legal plan and demand justice!  "They have no right to do that to me" you plead.  The response "Uh, yeah they can its right there in the fine-print!"  "You signed it buddy, don't you read things before you sign 'em."

Or better yet, how about the company that stipulates if you leave,  your downline belongs to us and "WE WILL SUE YOU!"

And most recently, my aunt joined one of the oldest MLM companies in the industry.  Wow, now here is a company that touts its trust and integrity.  Oh my, what do we have here on the shelf at our local Wal-Mart?  Why the same Company products at a third of the price that my aunt can sell them for, plus,  no shipping charges.  Why they can't do that!  My aunt paid to have exclusive rights to sell those products.  Well if you read that distributor agreement, you would see that they can do pretty much what they want.

Heres another good one!  "We the XYZ Corporation, have the right to terminate this agreement with a 30 day written notice."  That one ought to make you want to jump right in with all fours.  Or, we reserve the right to not renew the customer-distributor agreement upon the annual anniversary of the agreement.

Are you beginning to get the picture?  In the new age of Network Marketing the list of companies to choose from is endless.  Now days, people are more likely to be searching out MLM companies online.  Landing on capture pages, or being inundated with hundreds of  search results when they type "home based business"  in the search engine.  Your prospect is more likely to watch an online presentation of the business and comp plan, than to be dragged out to the Holiday Inn Express against their will.

With a staggering number of about 8500 people joining a home based business every day,  it is imperitive that people treat looking at a network marketing business like a major purchase, say buying a car or home, where you read the fine print in "Terms and Conditions" and "Policies and Procedures," and avoid that sickening "GOTCHA!"

Everybody knows that in an industry with new companies opening and closing their doors every day, it is essential now more than ever, that people get help to educate themselves on how to choose a  Network Marketing Company.

Absolutely True

What an absolutely TRUE analysis.  I really do wish there was a way for people to learn what Network Marketing is before they jump in and drown.  The story is so true...go to the "revival" meeting, sign on the dotted line, get all  pumped up, go home, try to get all your friends and family to join and then...................NOTHING!

Thanks Kevin.  I am so happy to have found MFF and to be associated with people like you!

Don't take it seriously

Did your aunt do a due diligence before she joined. I will wager that she did not. This is the same mistake 90% of new mlmers make. It is important that we treat mlm as a serious business that requires one to read and understand company practices.

Thank you for keeping this in front of us.
