Dear Money Lover: This could be the most important reading you do.
I may lose half of you with this next this opening statement, but I encourage you to keep on reading, “that is” if you can take this challenge.
Sure we all love money, but is it the money we love or the freedom it brings? I think the answer is clear there or at least it should be.
It’s probably the most common mistake for newbie’s into this industry to join because of the money. One of the most frequent questions asked is about the money. Whether that’s “how much to join” or “how much will I make” they are both prominent in the mind of people.
What they and maybe even veterans who’ve attempted to build their MLM business with that mind set, don’t understand is money shouldn’t be a primary concern here.
If you’ve successfully built your business with that mind set alone, chances are you’ve upset quite a few people on the way up. And surely you’ll fall right back down if you continue to think that way.
I’ve seen it first hand.
Why is money such a bad thing?
Well, it’s not, but it is a double edge sward.
The evil side of money is greed. Greed breads some pretty bad behavior. I’ve seen so called mentors who go out and flash everything they’ve earned from stepping on their downline and even the company. To then later see them blip off the map and no where to be found.
These types of people have made no friends, no allies but simply enemies. Not one person will risk trying to help pick them back up. Not unless you are Mother Teresa, and let’s face it. Not one of us is.
We can talk all day about the how to behind SEO, PPC with Google, Press Releases, Articles, Forums, more exposure, etc… But underlining the “how to” is about something different for each of us, but what I see and for most, is about the money. “How much do I spend,” or “how much will I make in return.”
Now yes, it’s important to budget and watch your cash flow. But to focus on that and make it the end all be your entire “why” you got into this in the first place, will derail you from your main priority, and that should be building your future.
- Building strong and lasting relationships.
- Building a solid and good reputation as an expert.
- Building TRUST.
Just those three “building” reasons above will = money later which should = freedom.
It’s the freedom of whatever chains that bind you that money may bring.
You want to be home more with your kids, so making more money will give you that.
You want to trade your Ford Escort in for something more reliable so you can eliminate your worry of breaking down all over the place and having to fork out more money to fix it.
You seriously want to get out of debt so you and your wife/husband will stop the arguing about bills and maybe are able to take that well deserved vacation alone together you need.
Whatever your why is, the point behind it is if you come on “money” focused you’re going to have a tough time getting your Ford Escort traded in.
You should be setting the “money” mind set aside and focusing on what will bring you the end freedom you are looking for.
And that is the building components I’ve mentioned above, plus more.
It’s only those that focus on what it does take to build a profitable business from home, which succeed.
I’ve not once seen someone that comes in with the greed for money; have true and long lasting success. They may make a quick buck or two using their savvy, “one trick pony” marketing skill. But it doesn’t last long and people start to see them for their true colors and run for the hills.
Do you want this to be you?
Focus on what you can do today, to gain more exposure, gain more trust, more traffic … etc. in order to move ahead to the next goal. Leave the “money” thought out of it for now. It = freedom will come in all due time.

The TRUTH Hurts!
Lisa,
Thanks so much for the post. The truth is plain to anyone who has been around network marketing for a time. If you focus on your wallet more than the constant development of yourself and your sponsored members then you will become very disenchanted. I have seen so many people yell "scam" when they focused only on the money. It makes much more sense to focus on people and much more rewarding to see the smiles on their faces or hear it in their voices when they finally start experiencing their own success. Money is NOT the root of all evil, but the love of money IS. The ability to take time and develop a healthy organization is the mark of a TRUE leader and not just someone out for a quick buck. Thanks again Lisa and best regards.
Daniel Pyle
Thanks Daniel
You are so right and have summed this up beautifully! And you're correct, people do yell "scam" as soon as they don't see the money and it's because they started off with the wrong mind set. Not to say people haven't been taken advantage of, but the responsibility for even that falls on your own shoulders.
Thanks for the comment! ;)
