Desperation Stinks!

Read More: Marketing

You can smell it instantly!  It’s like pile of wet towels that you find in a bag in your laundry room, it really reeks!!  It’s about as bad as someone trying to kiss on the first date!  You just don't do that, it’s not right!  People feel like they've been violated when someone comes into a new relationship moving way to fast!!  Have you ever had someone come into your home and try to sell you a product or service?  Do you recall ever having someone who ends up trying every sales trick in the book to try to get you to buy and by the time you are done its been a couple of hours, the salesperson is usually sweating bullets and you and your spouse are looking at each other wondering which one of you are going to get rid of this guy and how are you are going to do it?  When the anxiety is high and there is despair in their tone, its very uncomfortable and aggravating, isn't it!

I understand that for most people there is a sense of urgency, to get their business growing fast.   If a person focuses on what they can do to build people, the will naturally be drawn to them who will want to join them in business.   I am certain that if we come with an agenda, people will smell it coming! They will probably feel like a number right off the bat and that will really give them a bad taste.  It doesn't feel good at all when people come in looking like they are on the hunt and you are the hunted!

It is important to ask questions and get to know who a person really is and what makes them tick.  Find out what is most important to them.  Ask questions that will stimulate their minds to dream again.  For example:

What are you after in life?

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?  (This question might give you a better idea if that person is a mover and a shaker or if they may have other priorities that may not bear much fruit.)

What do you want more of in life?

What are some of the things you will do when money is not an issue?  (Speak this as they are on their way to "Owning Their Life!"  Present tense!

People love to know you care!  Imagine everyone you meet has a sign on their forehead that says, "Please make me smile today!"  And just do it! I guarantee if we approach others with an unconditional spirit and no hidden plan, our garden will flourish with much fruit, more than we have room to receive!  People will be asking you to join your business because of your genuine tenderness and concern for what is most valuable and significant to them in their lives.

Desperation Stinks!

You are so right Jenny.

You can practically smell it on someone.

Building a business or creating a relationship is a long-term scenario.

It requires many things to happen. To make the outcome be a good one.

Don't be the wet towel in the laundry basket. Allow yourself the opportunity

to make your business or relationship a wonderful long-term experience.

Good article.

Selling Stinks!

Nobody likes to be "SOLD"!

But I think everybody likes to buy if they know it's their idea.

Jenny's got some pretty sage advice. Give her a chance to show you how to own your life.
