Don’t Bite the OTO Bullet if You’re Not Ready – and Still Get the Offer!
For those of you not familiar, OTO is a “One Time Offer”. According to the gurus and webmasters, you will NEVER see this offer again. Is that really the truth? Is there a way around their compelling sales pitch that you desperately want to take advantage of, but were too afraid to ask?
As Internet marketers, we are constantly looking for traffic solutions. We are correctly taught that article marketing and forum posts are optimal long term strategies and it all sounds good, but we need traffic now!
We seek short term traffic and find many well known sites deemed respectable. The sales pages entice us as we struggle with our decision. We reason that real business people take immediate and massive action and don’t sit around to wait for things to happen.
Some times there are free sign-ups and others are paid. More times than not we are faced with the OTO – the dreaded “One Time Offer”.
The script on this page is even more compelling. Yanik Silver or Charlie Page could have written it themselves.
“You will NEVER see THIS offer again”, they say.
“This is your ONLY chance to take advantage of this Opportunity”, they write.
You know the tune, yet you struggle with yourself. Possibly, you prepare your defense for your significant other when the bank statement arrives.
“What should I do?”, you ask yourself. Take action now or pay a lot more later.
Here is my tip for this article:
If you get to an OTO page you are considering, but are on the fence, do this:
• Go to the top of your browser
• Highlight the OTO link (most have oto in a subdirectory)
• Copy the link
• Paste it and save it in Wordpad or Notepad etc. where you will remember it
• Use it when YOU are ready!
It’s that simple and you may save yourself a few bucks if you’re not ready to bite the bullet when the particular webmaster or guru wants you to swallow it!
Who knows, you may even change your mind on an impulse purchase and avoid buyer's remorse.
Maybe some OTO pages have a way around this and copy IP addresses. I don’t know.
Maybe you can use the link on a different PC.
It is what it is – it’s just a tip. It saved me a few bucks when I felt like upgrading later
a couple of times when I didn’t feel like biting the OTO bullet.
It’s all good.

re Don't Bite
Good advice, Nathan.
It reminds me of one of my "friends" online that I follow. She put in an email recently, "Don't Buy From Me." It was a great email about not buying from her unless we can afford it.
I trust her a lot (Tiffany Dow, if you're wondering) and she writes great copy. I ALWAYS want to buy from her because she's that good with the OTO :) on all of her sales letters.
But in her email to her list, her point was, there's plenty of free education, good content out there, for all of us to benefit from but it just takes longer, she said. I agree. And this article helps me in the same way.
Thanks for the tips!
Terri
OTO ... deja vu
I joined a site that gives you a monthly info website, it uses adwords and other affiliate links to make money by selling associated content. (if you want to try it here is a link - http://www.freemonthlywebsites.com/?go=27675 )
Each month when I go to pick up my Free Website, they offer me a Premium membership. Using this I can have access to an archive of websites (I just downloaded my December website today so it's on my mind). The websites are good, and I have over a years worth of content. Each month they have the same offer, and if I say no thanks they give me the opportunity to get the past group of websites for a reduced price without becoming a Premium Member.
Each time it says that this is a one time offer. Each time I say No Thanks and download what they offer for the month. So even without saving the OTO page, I get it regularly just by doing my monthly download.
I've seen this with most websites that have Premium offers. They say it's a OTO or you have 5 minutes to make a decision, but if you go back later you get the same offers.
It's the game we play to put the urgency into the purchase.
Good article about the OTOs.
