Everyone Wants to Be Somebody

There isn't a person in the world who doesn't have the desire to be someone special. Even someone with little ambition still wants to be respected highly by others.

When I was a kid I remember going to a Varsity football game in my hometown of Kirkland Washington. I was in about 6th grade I believe and I remember watching the game thinking, wow I want to be a Varsity football player one day! I wanted to play on Friday nights under the lights in front of a large crowd.I didn't want to warm the bench either I wanted to be an impact player. As I watched the game that night I said to my friend who was a bit older than me, " I am going to be a starter on the Varsity team one day".

Soon after that day I begin thinking what I needed to do to make this happen. Of course I better learn to play the game so the next season I signed up for pop-warner football. I started to throw the football with my dad and learn some of the basic football techniques. As the years went by I got better and better at football, as I got to junior high I knew I was closer to my dream becoming reality. While I realized at this point I was probably not good enough to play in the NFL one day but I could still be a good high school football player.

Everyone wants to be thought of highly by others. In other words everyone wants to be somebody. This helps me understand why people do some of the things they do and if you treat others as if he or she were the most important person in the world, they will know that he or she is somebody to you.

For those of you who dying to know, yes I did become a starter on the high school varsity team and achieve my goals of playing under those Friday night lights. It was an experience I will never forget.
