Qassia is a relatively new site that provides backlinks to your websites in exchange for information, or, as Qassia calls it, "Intel."

Intel may consist of any information, provided that copyright is not violated, and the intel is:

  1. in English.
  2. comprised of sentences as opposed to keywords.
  3. non-pornographic.
  4. not about Qassia.

You must specify the source of the intel you are about to add. It is very important that you correctly classify the source, as Qassia warns that "False classification will result in the eventual termination of your account." Modifying content from your blog/site to make it suitable as intel does not turn it into original intel. That classification applies only to completely original material, i.e. information typed up from scratch that has not been previously published.

You get credit and revenue for each piece of intel you publish. Your intel will be screened and rated by other users after you submit it. The amount of credit you get varies according to the length of your intel and the rating it receives.

"Revenue," you say? That's the frosting.

At Qassia, you get 100 percent of gross advertising revenue. The ad revenue goes straight from the advertising company to you.

How does this work?

It's very simple. They run Google Adsense ads, as well as advertisements for other programs. When your user page or intel is displayed, the advertisement on that page is displayed using your Google Adsense account number or affiliate ID. This means that you own the advertisement, and we don't even know how many times it gets clicked on or how much revenue it generates.

When a user searches for a keyword or subject, and finds your Intel, he is also provided with a backlink to the site of your choice. If, for instance, you want to provide original Intel on BetterNetworker, the folks who read it will be provided with your link back to this site.

Qassia also rewards you for intel by paying you in Qassia dollars - no, you can't spend 'em anywhere else, but you can use them to generate even more traffic. Dollars are also paid for referrals. For that reason, if you find Qassia of interest, I'd appreciate it if you'd use the link at the bottom of the page - it's mine.

Members are also rewarded for adding Qassia badges to their websites. When they crawl your site - and they won't do that unless you ask them to - you'll get more credits if they find a badge embedded in a page. Qassia will crawl your site at least one time a month (It might be as often as several times a month). The date varies. The dates are determined at random and variable. They might even crawl two days in a row. A few days after crawling a site, they will announce the date of the last crawl on the page, and add the credit to your account.

In some ways, Qassia reminds me of Wikipedia. Articles (Intel) are submitted to committees of 6 members. These members assign a score to your intel, and may include comments about how to improve your scores in the future. My first intel, for instance, was about Holocaust denial and hate on the Internet, and the committee suggested that more content and better spell checking would result in a higher score.

To recap:

Qassia is free to join and enjoy. There are no "upgrades" to worry about.

Qassia rewards quality Intel with traffic and money.

Like Squidoo, Qassia rewards effort and original thought, and the price is certainly right.

Cheers,
