Future of Network Marketing 2
"The Future Of The Networking Industry In An Online World. How To Explode Your Business In 2008 And Beyond."
A Revealing Report By Mike Dillard
Observation #2:
Before we dive in, I'd like to invite you to share your views and opinions about these reports once you read them at our forum here.
- Mike
2007 was the year Web 2.0 marketing strategies crossed over into the network marketing arena in a noticeable way – when social networking, video, and social book-marketing sites were embraced as legitimate new marketing channels and sources of traffic, instead of just time-wasting web crack.
It’s been fascinating to watch… Like seeing a digital version of America’s expansion into the Wild West played-out in fast forward, where savvy entrepreneurs race to carve out their pieces of the new digital real-estate pies baked by sites like MySpace and YouTube.
Just as in life, there is always a gap between the
have’s and have-not’s. The rich continue to get richer, while the poor
continue to get lose even more. It’s simply survival of the fittest.
The bar has been raised, and the gap widened to a
critical point last year. While it was possible for an individual to
keep up with the online techniques of Network Marketing 2.0, that’s no
longer the case in “3.0”.
I think a lot of people realize this and it’s a source
of great frustration. The Old Guard of the industry will continue to
use the methods they’re comfortable with, as the online world becomes
increasingly foreign by the year.
That is a risk we all face and must be aware of.
Early adopters who acquire knowledge and expertise to
capitalize on new opportunities reap great rewards, while those who sit
back and take a passive approach, typically pay more to fight over the
scraps they leave behind.
I’ve seen the guys of Gold Mine like Dennis and Jimmy embrace the world of video and they now dominate YouTube.
I’ve seen others like Mr. Tribble master the blogging world.
And there are a growing number of networkers who are following in their footsteps, but the pace is incredible…
While you might be dabbling with the idea of putting
together your first YouTube video this week, they just announced the
introduction of their revenue sharing program for creators of original
content.
Just when you think you have it figured out, the rules of the game change once again.
MLMer’s had their first major opportunity to grow and
expand during Network Marketing 2.0 with the introduction of PPC,
articles, press-releases, capture pages, ebooks, flash media, and
banners.
And frankly, mastering any of those techniques was enough to melt anyone’s mind.
Now if you want to stay on the fore-front of the
market to capitalize on the new traffic, branding, and selling
opportunities created by social networking, and video, you’ve got to
master those as well!?
Geeez…When does anyone have the time to build a downline during all of this?!
My Predictions For 2008 And Beyond:
1: The Level Of Sophistication Needed To Stay Ahead Of The Competition Will Continue To Rise.
I’m sure it’s evident to both of us that this is just
the beginning. The future of online marketing will present us with an
ever-expanding list of new options and abilities.
As more networkers embrace the online world,
competition will continue to rise, and when marketers go to battle, the
details determine the winner.
Those who make the biggest ROI for the advertising dollar will push the rest of the players off the field.
Would you like to be one of the few who stays on top?
Well the best way to ensure that you survive and even thrive is to embrace split-testing if you haven’t already done so.
Here’s an example of a recent, (and very tiny), change
to one of our Magnetic Sponsoring affiliate capture pages that
increased conversion by 83% in less than 24 hours.
See below…
Here’s the original design…
Here’s the updated version which converted 83% better!
Think about that for a minute… We increased the number
of leads our pages produced by 83% with one tiny little change that
took less than 60 seconds to make.
Your campaigns can go from miserable, to marginal, to
insanely effective in a very short amount of time as long as you’re
willing to test them.
Pay more attention to the details and you’ll come out the winner in every way!
2: For The First Time In History, Out-Sourcing Will
Become Common Place Among Internet Savvy Network Marketers Out Of Sheer
Necessity.
In my ten years in this industry, I’ve never seen more
than the occasional assistant utilized by a handful of top earners
until 2007.
That began to change last year as more and more
networking leaders were forced to embrace the help of out-sourced labor
once it became evident there was no way you or I can single-handedly…
Manage a PPC campaign.
Create new capture pages.
Write follow-up emails.
Send out press-releases.
Write sales letters.
Build websites.
Manage a blog.
Write scripts and post videos.
Build a MySpace page.
Figure out how to optimize all of those for the search engines.
And STILL…
Call our leads.
Build rapport.
Train new reps.
Attend company calls.
Attend company events.
And sponsor new distributors.
It’s simply impossible for one person to keep up.
The solution is to specialize. Pick your skill and master it.
If you’ve conquered Adwords and can produce 50+ leads
per day with PPC, then that’s your specialty and you’ll need to remain
focused on it in order to stay competitive.
If you want to expand into new traffic sources, get a
basic understanding on what’s involved there, and then out-source it.
For example, let’s say that you’re really into video
and generating a lot of traffic and leads with YouTube, but you want to
get into Adwords.
Go read Perry Marshall’s book on the subject once or
twice so you have a thorough understanding of how to run a campaign,
but let someone else create it and run it for you.
You want to know enough to understand what’s going on,
and to judge whether or not the results are what they should be, but
you don’t want to get sucked into running everything yourself which can
turn into a full-time job.
Trying to keep up with every new skill isn’t going to
work and will only serve as a big distraction. You’ll never build a
downline unless you focus, and you’ll never keep pace with online
marketing unless you outsource.
Here are some great places to start…
I use www.Elance.com
all the time to have websites, logos, and flash videos made. You can
get help for EVERYTHING at Elance. Another similar source that’s great
from any kind of programming needs is www.Guru.com.
www.DirectResponseJobs.com is a great place to find help with copywriting and online marketing campaigns.
3: “Do-It-For-You” Systems Will Increase In Popularity.
I think it’s pretty obvious that what we’ve been
discussing so far is not for the average person in network marketing
who simply wants to earn an extra few hundred dollars per month.
90% of the people in this industry don’t have the
drive or desire to become an expert marketer offline, or online and
most don’t want to have anything to do with learning, leadership, or
hard work.
When it comes to any area in their life, most
American’s don’t want to work for it, they just want to buy a
“solution-in-a-box”.
The fact that you’re still reading this document
proves that this doesn’t hold true for you or I, but when you look at
the 80/20 Rule, we are in the fortunate minority.
As the gap continues to widen between the skilled and
the unskilled, turn-key marketing solutions will begin to increase in
popularity within our industry.
If you tell a new distributor to go learn PPC or social
marketing the day they get started, they’ll be stuck reading books for
3 months.
Network marketing leaders are going to need to take on
the responsibility of providing their teams with turn-key marketing and
lead generation campaigns to help newbies bridge the gap.
This isn’t a new concept, but it’s more important than ever.
The companies that provide and market this business-in-a-box model will see incredible growth and duplication.
I recently helped a 3-year-old company design and
implement this kind of system. The number of new customers and
distributors increased by 300% within 45 days of its release because
new people were able to participate at a simpler level.
Yes... we TRIPLED company revenues in less than two months.
Once a rep is involved, they are exposed to
higher-level training and coaching designed to encourage leadership and
self-sufficiency, which is vital to long-term stability.
So despite all of the new changes coming our way, you really just need to do two things…
1: Master one traffic generating skill, and out-source the rest.
2: Learn how to communicate effectively with your prospects.
4: Picking Up The Phone Will Become More Important Than Ever.
When all of this internet marketing stuff is said and
done, it will be your ability to connect and communicate with your
prospects that will ultimately determine your success.
You can only hide behind an autoresponder for so long.
If you want to build a downline, you’ve got to get on the phone and
connect with people. Remember, they’re ultimately joining YOU, because
they feel that you can help them achieve their goals.
Stay tuned for Part III.
Sincerely,

Mike Dillard
