Getting 100 "No's"!
They say go get 100 "no's"! You'll be THAT much closer to a "yes"!
Really?
I don't know about you guys, but I feel 100 "no's" is a waste of my time, money, and effort. Getting advice like that also feels like a waste of time. I mean, really, isn't that the stupidest thing you've ever heard? One hundred "no's" have taken more people out of this industry than any other word in the English language.
If your mentor is giving you advice like that, then I suggest you find another mentor.
Myself, I'd probably change tactics if I received 100 "no's". Obviously whatever I was doing ISN'T working.
Some Common Sense
Don't put all your eggs into one basket. This kinda has a double meaning. First of all, don't count on just one mentor. Myself, I talk to four different people in my upline. They all give me valuable advice based on their own experiences. Secondly, I wouldn't just do one thing. Like... I wouldn't just post articles. Now don't get me wrong, articles are a GREAT way to get traffic to YOU and YOUR ideas, but you should have a few backup ways to get traffic. I post blogs and articles. I participate in discussions. I use social networking sites (Myspace, Facebook, etc). I use craigslist. The list goes on and on. By doing so, I reach out to people who I wouldn't be able to by just posting articles or commenting on them.
So go get 100 "yes's". Leave the "no's" at the door.

You hit the nail right on
You hit the nail right on the head. I have heard that one many times over and quite frankly that is probably the worse advice anyone can give in this business. Why in the world would someone want to listen to the word "no" that many times. If I were to build a team on 10,000 distributors that would mean I would have to talk to 1,000,000 people in order to reach my goal. Well guess what, 990,000 nos would be to much for me to bear.
If you have received that type of advice in your business then by all means stop listening to it. Your time should be more valuable to you than this strategy.
Very Good Advice
I think you raised some valid points. I have been told many times 100 no's is closer to a yes. It's very discouraging to get the NO's and will drive many out of business from frustration.
I like your advice of getting 100 yes's out there and leaving the no's at the door. I just have to get it together and get out there and get them yes's.
28 Times
While in the corporate world, I was taught that a human being has to hear the same thing 28 times for it to be burned into their respective brain and then stay there.
This being said, it's no wonder people in this industry drop out so fast if subscribing the NO x100 theory. Having the word NO burned into one's brain can only lead to negativity in other areas of a person's daily life and habits; not just their respective business.
