Happy Valentine's Day

The night of the Presidential Inauguration Beyonce Knowles serenaded President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama with this song at the Neighborhood Ball. Her powerful voice and the beautiful lyrics soared through the air while the First Couple danced. His gentle touch and caressing gaze, the playful whispering in her ear, made them look like they were in a private world of their own, even though the world was watching. I saw women fanning their faces with their fingers, mouthing "It's so romantic, I'm going to cry." Some put their hands on their hearts, as if trying to contain a great swelling of emotion.

Love was in the air...Ah...Were we witnessing a rebirth of a more romantic era?

It's February, the month of love and romance-for young lovers and the young-at-heart alike. Do you have romance in your life? Do you want to experience it again, or for the first time?

The key is take an active role in your happiness. You need to go out and find love and romance and happiness, then bring them into your life. Don't just wait for them to find you. You could be waiting a very long time.

A client of mine recently told me that she wants to find her life mate.

Client: My goal is to find the right man for me and marry him.

Ha:  What's he look like?

Client: Oh well, I don't really know.

Ha: How can you find him if you don't know what he looks like?  Let's pre-qualify him, shall we? Tell me what you want him to look like, what qualities he has, what sort of person he is.

o       What color are his eyes?

o       How tall is he?

o       How much does he weigh?

o       What's his personality like?  Funny, serious, kind,   intelligent, athletic, active?

o       How much education should he have? High school, college, doctorate?

o       What professions would you be comfrotable with?

o       Should he be a good cook, do half the housework, love kids, want you to wait on him hand-and-foot?

o      What else do you want?

Keep in mind that cutting out a picture of Daniel Craig (James Bond) from a magazine doesn't count (LOL). The more specific you are the better.

Client:  Really!!!

Ha: Really!  Imagine that you're with him already-how do you feel going to bed next to him and getting up the next morning next to him? What does he smell like, feel like, what does he say to you? What's it like coming home to him at the end of the day-how does he greet you, make you feel?

Client:  Really?

Ha: Really. How will you know he's the one when you meet him if you don't know what you want? How can you know what to look for, how to recognize it? How can you be sure that you're attracting your heart's desire if you don't have any idea what your heart's desire is?

 Reawaken your romance -

Remember an enchanted evening...You sat across from each other in your favorite restaurant.  You were gazing into each other's eyes. Time stood still.

You listened to each other with all your being. You listened with your ears, eyes, heart, mind, body and soul.  Listening and hearing-you were following his or her every breath; listening to every word he or she had to say; you were fascinated and mesmerized by every thought and story that was shared.

Your partner was responding the same way to you. The message you were giving each other was clearly "I'm with you now and nothing is more important to me right now than you and what you are saying."

Do it again. To reawaken that sense of romance, of wonder with your partner, listen in ways you probably haven't done in years.

When you listen, do so with all your senses:

   >Your ears-pay attention to sound quality and the inflections of his or her voice, and detect emotion.

     >Your eyes-you need to see what your partner is saying. Pay attention to their facial expressions as well as their body language.

     >Your heart-feel and experience the message.

   Listen attentively without interruption.

You did that once-why don't you do it again? You don't even have to wait for Valentine's Day. Do it on any given day. The spontaneity, the excitement of truly listening and connecting will bring unexpected zest. Where will it take you?

Remember when...love was so grand. Listen your way back....

Valentine's Day

is a day to express your love, and to celebrate the spirit of love. Love like you're never loved before...with directed action and in truth.  Best, Ha
