Having the right mindset.

Dear Friends;

To succeed in network marketing you must have the right mentality from the start. You must enter into your business with an unshakable resolve and absolute certainty that you will succeed. NO MATTER WHAT! You must be willing to choose Success! I know that for many of you reading this that sounds easy. You may be asking yourself; why wouldn’t I choose to succeed if it’s a matter of choice. The truth is many of you have been subconsciously opposing success your whole life without even knowing it. Napoleon Hill once said “No one is ready for a thing until he believes he can acquire it. The state of mind must be belief, not mere hope or wish.” How many of you have said things to yourself like; “That would never happen to someone like me” or I’ll try this out and see how it goes”. What about this one; “I hope that I get rich someday”. Each of those previous statements comes from a place of self doubt. To succeed, you must be willing to make the decision that you will undoubtedly obtain everything you want out of life, and this is the vehicle that will make it happen! When you make this choice you open yourself up to the very things that you have always wanted in life! You must sell out to the notion that success in this industry, (just as it is in life) is a CHOICE! If you have even the smallest doubt, this industry will surely expose it down the road. That doubt will eventually begin to grow internally just as a cancer cell would, eventually over taking all of your hopes and dreams.

You must also be prepared to make a mental commitment to yourself, your up line and your team members that you will give this business a minimum of 24 months. This means you have to be willing to financially commit to the minimum order or auto-ship for two years. In most cases that could amount to a total investment in your business of $2500- $3,000 for most companies. Make sure your prospects understand this type of financial investment is required if they want to succeed in this business. To build a successful network marketing organization takes time. Most of us are used to a linear income where you trade hours for dollars. You need to be aware that your income throughout your first year in this business will not match your efforts. I would estimate that this factor alone contributes to over 90% of the dropouts in this industry. If you mentally commit to this time frame from the start, you won’t be as surprised three or six months into your business when you aren’t as far along as you think you should be. If you aren’t willing to make an 18-24 month commitment from the start, then I would suggest you don’t waste yours - or anyone else’s time. Remember this is not the lottery! If you are here to get rich quick then you are definitely in the wrong place. Network marketing takes good business practices that includes; hard work, smart work, commitment, dedication and perseverance applied consistently to a plan of action whose structure will produce the results you are committed to accomplishing.

Finally, you must mentally prepare yourself for adversity. This is a tough business! People are going to tell you “No” often. People will laugh at you for thinking you can succeed in this business. People whom you thought would be incredible in your business will quit without every getting started. People will be lazy. People who can’t accept responsibility will blame you for their lack of success, etc. You have to prepare yourself mentally, from the get go, that you there will be good days and bad days. You just have to make the decision upfront that you will keep moving forward no matter what!

In close, I will reiterate that you must get yourself in the right mental mindset if you want to succeed in this industry. If you can accomplish this you are more likely to stick with it it when times get tough. Also, if you can set realistic expectations for your team members when they first come on board, you will be less likely to waste your valuable time working with people who are destined to drop out after a few months. The key to a good start in anything is being prepared. Preparing yourself and your team mentally from the start will make a significant difference in the success of your business.
