Hey Look At Me! I Have a Website!
New people coming on the internet get tons of advice from
all corners. Their friends, business associates, family, and
the almighty GURU's. Did you know that 9 out of 10 times
one of the things they are told is... "What you need is a
website"?
What they are not told though is that just because you have
a website means little, because people will not visit your
website if they don't know your there.
Did you know that there are an estimated 3 billion new users
expected on the internet this year? Each and every one will
be expecting to make vast amounts of money because they
are told it's so easy to do... All I have to say to that is...
Bunk.
When I came on the internet 9 years ago, and started to
market on the internet, the marketers helped each other.
We gave each other advice, told each other where the good
programs were, and exchanged information as to how we
marketed that program or product. What a concept... We
promoted each other, and helped each other grow and
prosper.
Even though we were competitors, we became friends, and
the next "new guy" was treated the same unless he gave a
reason for us not to do so. That was a very rare instance.
And, all of this was done feely.
The World Wide Web has for over a decade been growing
uncontrolably and changing. It is almost unimaginable, it is
so vast in scope and changed many times over. In this
process some of the people out here have forgotten who they
are, and where they came from. A lot of them treat the New
People like the banking commercials on TV where they brush
them under the rug, or,set them on fire, etc... they are
mercenaries... Shame on them.
Todays internet is totally different. Some of us use to be known
as "Experts" in our field. Today they are known as GURU's,
excuse me while I do my mantra... "Ummmmmmmm buy my
product and you'll become a millionaire".
What a line of garbage!
To you New Guys reading this article.. Don't believe this stuff
it's a pipe dream. The only reason they are making tons of
money is that your buying their products which in most cases
do not provide you with any information you can find by doing
an internet search on Google or some other search engine, or
getting in contact with someone who will coach and mentor you,
who has "been there and done that", and will be straight up with
you.
For millions of people, marketing on the Internet has become
a daily activity, and they are honest and there for those who
might be shopping, looking for information, or hoping to be
entertained. There are billions of good websites waiting to offer
to do exactly that, without all of the hype, or the 10 foot long sales
pages But, it does not come without hard work. I'm here to tell
you that there are no short cuts to becoming successful on the
internet... You may not become a millionaire, but you can make
a good income.
On top of all this, countless websites are being added to the mix
and a new era has been born... Web2.0. Many who are entering
the internet today want to tell the world something about who they
are and what they're interested in. They're offering information,
pictures, and videos. Others are looking for success as merchants.
They want a share of the huge financial exchange going on in the
Internet marketplace. (On eBay alone, there are millions of people
spending millions of dollars every day.)
For your website to be successful in sharing its information with
the world, it needs visitors. And, because of Web2.0 they are no
longer satisfied with just visiting a static webpage or website,
they want to interact. For a person to be successful in selling
products online, they need to have a steady flow of web traffic.
Ideally, visitors would arrive automatically, as in "build it and
they will come." Mostly, however, this isn't how it works.
Competition on the Internet is stiff! Millions of results are returned
on Google when a search is conducted for any specific item,
keyword, or area of interest. How can you hope to be found among
all of those competing pages? One thing you need are backlinks,
and a lot of them. In addition to that you need to post as often as
you can to Blogs, Forums, Social Networking Sites and other
factions of Web2.0. You need to interact with your customer. You
need to establish that you are a human being, and their friend.
People buy from People, and Especially from their Friends.
If you do not do this you will be left behind.
To the search engines, backlinks mean the other websites are
"voting" for your website, saying it is valuable in some way.
However, not all backlinks are the same. Those you acquire must
have a page rank higher than yours, if not then it could be detrimental
to your site. So Aim High when you do this. If the back link pointing
to your website comes from a site with content on a similar topic
as yours, it has elevated value in the eyes of the search engines.
In this time of tremendous competition for attention on the Internet,
the key is positioning your website high in the search results by
SEO, visibility on the internet, and offering your visitor a valuable
experience on your website.
