How Do You Get People To Stay In Your Business?
If you've read Magnetic Sponsoring then this article might be a little bit of a review for you. If you've been having trouble getting people to stick around in your business, it may just be the wake up call you've been looking for.
One of the most common questions I hear when I talk with other network marketers and coach new people in my downline, is how do I get people to stay in my business once I've sponsored them? It's really simple when you understand how human psychology and network marketing work together.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, success all comes back to leadership. I've always compared a successful network marketing business to a retirement plan. If you have a 40 year commitment to network marketing then you can't concern yourself with people who have a 40 day commitment.
You as the leader simply cannot worry about whether or not people are going to stay in. The one's who don't stick with it aren't going to make you any money and they won't make money for themselves either, especially if they quit.
The other thing I always tell people who ask me how to get people to stay in is this. How many new people per month are you bringing in? When you're focused on that, the people who are workers will see YOU working and bringing in new people. The only way you can duplicate success is to be successful yourself. It seems almost too simple, but it's true.
You truly DO get what you focus on and your downline will do what you do in excess. If you're whining about how people in your downline are quitting, guess what will happen? More people will quit.
This happens because basic human psychology states that people will move away from negative vibe or energy. If your downline perceives you as being weak then they'll avoid you like the plague.
Here is an example how this works...
Have you ever noticed how the very successful networker never seems to complain about anything? Complaining of any kind is basically foreign to these people, and that's how you should be conducting yourself as well.
Pardon me while I sound like Dr. Phil for a moment. If people in your downline are quitting faster than you're bringing new people in, it's probably time to take a good long look in the mirror and be honest with yourself. It's not them, it's you.
As long as you understand that attitude is everything, and the people around you will do what you do, it's as easy as pie to get people to stick with it. You won't even notice if a couple of people decide to quit.
With that said, there is one last piece of this attrition puzzle I'd like to mention.
Network marketing is a people and relationship business. While the relationships are important, we are here to make money. It's great to maintain a relationship with your people who decide to leave, because they may come back later, or give you the names of other people who will join and stick with it.
Above all else, stick with it yourself. Every time you quit and join a new program you take your failure with you, and people notice this. If you quit then you're guaranteed to fail. If you stay the course and accept nothing less than the best from yourself, you'll accept nothing less than the best from your downline.
