How do your Earn Trust?

Trust is a function of 2 things: "Character" and "Competence".

Character includes your integrity, your motive, and your intent with people, while competence includes your capabilities, your skills, your results and your track record.

With the increasing focus on ethics in our society, the character side of trust is fast becoming the price of entry. However, the differentiating and often ignored side of trust - competence - is equally essential.

You might think a person is sincere, even honest, but you won't trust that person fully if he or she doesn't get results. And the opposites also true. A person might have great skills and talents and a good track record, but if he or she is not honest, you are not going to trust that person either.

In network marketing, you need to believe in the product you are promoting, in as much as you must truly believe it will HELP your prospect. Your thinking is that if they too learn to love the product, they will have the foundation to successfully promote it as part of your team. Where most people fall down is by having that niggling thought in the back of their heads that this new person may struggle to find enough leads to promote to, no matter how good the product is. This can cause a lack of congruence, and as a result, can come across in your interaction with your prospect.

Get some testimonials from others as to your success and skills. Have a sincere "want" to help your prospect succeed. Make sure you can help your prospect with finding people to promote to, and you will be well on your way.
