How I discovered the “Hall of Justice” in MLM!

I actually started my journey in MLM and network marketing in the fall of 1997. Even in my first MLM, my sponsor always told me Together Everyone Achieves More. Though even with their “training program” we were expected to “upgrade” our status if we wanted to receive training with the company.  By “upgrading” our status to a VIP member we supposedly had access to all the training we’d ever need in order to succeed in that business. As a “reward” to us for continuing our VIP status with the company, we were given an extra discount on various online stores (of which I had not interest in) but just knowing the discount was available to me if I ever “needed” it, was enough for me. (at the time).

As far as our training went, it was 1 phone call a week, and all they talked about was stuff far to technical for me to understand as someone who was new to not only MLM, but computers in general.  That was it. (knowing what I know now, I can’t believe I stayed with them for so long! 2years!) Needless to say, I made no money. ( what can I say, I knew nothing about MLM and how they should be operating) So, I finally left. And my downline stayed, after all, I didn’t have anything to teach them, because I never learned anything in the first place.

I then thought about searching for the “next one”. Still without knowing anything about MLM or how network marketing worked, I would join one after another and another and another. I was so frustrated, I even resorted to reading self-help books thinking maybe it was just me, maybe I was doing something wrong other than no being able to afford to find “the right training”.  Though I don’t regret investing in the self-help books, I do regret paying $100s of my hard earned  blood, sweat, and tears on something I later found was already available free online someplace else!!!!

I still did not give up. I knew that there was free “training” available for me in some MLM somewhere… there had to be!

It was a while before I jumped into my next MLM, this time I was going to do some research! After 2 years of searching, I finally “settled” on what I thought was the company I could die with. I learned what to look for in choosing an MLM, on my “off-time” and just “knew” I had finally found my holy grail. Everything seemed to be going a lot better than my previous “ventures” so I figured I finally “hit the big-time”. I even started building a substantial downline, (…for me anyway), even started getting checks in the mail. I couldn’t help but get excited about the company. Even though the checks were meager, I still found my self plugging away at it, getting on all the calls I could, staying “plugged in” and spending money on various forms of advertising hoping that soon my check would reach $20 so I could put more money into advertising…like the company suggested.  No matter how hard I worked I never saw that check grow. Then I discovered my products were also being sold on e-bay! That was a heartbreaker! After seeing what they were selling our products for, I knew there was no use going any further. I finally quit after giving them almost 2 years. Even though I stayed “plugged in” throughout my membership, I was never able to receive the personal coaching I so desperately sought after.

Then came this past September 2008. I had actually been a member of  Better Networker through one of my previous ventures that didn’t really pay off, so I decided to update my profile. While I was updating my profile and reading various articles and blogs posted on the community home page, I noticed I was receiving the training I never had before.  Then I somehow managed to stumble upon a free e-book that explained the various lies and truths of MLM. I can’t believe it took me 2 months to finally getting around to finish reading it! I remember getting emails and a phone call every once in a while from the same person who’s site I downloaded that e-book from, wondering if I would like some free training.

It wasn’t until December of 2008 that I decided to get in contact with that person again so I could get some more information about the book I downloaded. She then explained she was with Mentoring For Free and that they provided training for any MLM for FREE! After our phone call was over, I then began  re-reading that e-book, thinking there had to be a catch listed in there somewhere. Shortly after finishing it, I began researching Mentoring For Free in various online communities and discovered that though many of the members only dealt with a few specific companies, I understood why. 

There are hardly any true MLM companies that actually pass the “5 pillars of success” taught in the e-book “Success in 10 Steps”.  Because of how the book taught me about the MLM and network marketing, I decided to join Mentoring For Free myself!

Now I am a part of a whole group of likeminded people helping me stay focused on what I need to do to succeed.  By staying “plugged into the group” on a daily basis, by staying in contact with my sponsor and mentors, via Skype and various daily phone training available to us for free, I’m now closer to discovering my next and final MLM. 

This is my “Hall of Justice”.
