How NOT to Prospect on the Internet For Your Network Marketing Business

The internet is a great way to build a network marketing business. You can use free strategies as well as paid strategies to build your business.

Periodically I get a call from a distributor that comes across one of my ads on the internet. They see my number, pick up the phone and call me to try and sign me up for their network marketing opportunity.

This is NOT how you want to be building your business!

Theoretically could you call enough people during the day to find someone who is interested in signing up with you? YES you could. However, why would you waste your time and energy doing that when there are so many other MORE effective ways to find prospects on the internet.

Why would you try to cold call people who are advertising THEIR network marketing business and try to recruit them for your network marketing business.

There are several reasons why this is a very poor strategy for building network marketing opportunities.

Reason #1 - It creates poor posture for you. When you cold call somebody on the internet, right off the back you have already giving away your posture to them. YOU are initiating contact. They have all the power.

In addition, you create the appearance that you are interested in their business when you refer to their ad. Once they realize that is not your intention, you lose all credibility and a good prospect would NEVER work with you after that.

Reason #2 - They are not your target prospect. Network marketers that are advertising online are NOT your target prospect. Your target prospect is people who are looking for another opportunity.

If a network marketer is already advertising their existing business, chances are they are already committed to that business. If you are interested in focusing on network marketers, there are much better and more effective strategies for recruiting them.

There is a great book by best selling author Frank Rumbauskas called "Cold Calling Is A Waste of Time." If you seriously believe this is an effective strategy for building this business, I highly recommend you take a look at this book.

Most networkers however know this is a stupid strategy deep down in their hearts. The problem is they don't know what else to do. Therefore they resort to this poor prospecting strategy in hopes that they get lucky. You don't want to base your business prospects on getting lucky. You want to base your business prospects on sound network marketing prospecting and building strategies.

So stop cold calling network marketers and learn some strategies that will get them to come to you. You will make more money, waste less time and build a more effective long term business in the process.
