How to Build Your Business Even When You Have NO Time

If you are like me, you have a busy life and don't have time to spend hours a day building your  business. I am in a self-employed situation—and you know what they say about employees who turn to self-employment?. PSYCHO! I cannot take sick days or vacations and expect to still get paid in my "other" business. I trade time for money just like most everyone else out there. I am married with two kids and find myself volunteering for several community related activities. If you are reading this, you probably have a similar story.

Following are 5 tips that you can use to build your business in one hour a day.

1. Define your Goal - You have to know what you want to accomplish and what it takes to get there. If you do not have your goal and the steps to achieve your goal written down, it will be almost impossible to achieve your goal in any time frame. So step one is: Get Clear AND Write it Down WITH a Timeframe for achieving the goal.

2. Learn what produces results and what does not - In most businesses, there are only two or three things that produce results. Learn what those things are for you and do them over and over again. Direct Marketing is a business of repetition. Those who are successful do a few things over and over and over and over. Stick with it.

3. Work your business first thing in the morning - This way you can guarantee that your work gets done and you can start the day off with your top priorities in the front of your mind. This might mean getting up an hour earlier than everyone else in the household and putting yourself into a productive frame of mind: Read for 15 minutes from a self help book, practice saying affirmations, exercise, respond to or send out a few emails, send out some voicemails, WRITE DOWN some followup items that you can fit in at other times during the day.

4. Don't get creative--Don't try to Reinvent the Business - Direct Marketing is a business of repetition. Most time that is wasted is spent on working on "creative" ideas. Leave the creativity to the people who have more time to invest. (This is the hardest one for me to follow---how about you?).

5. Create Your Personal System for Generating Leads - The biggest challenge with not having a lot of time to work your business is not having time to generate or connect with leads. If you have a system for generating leads, then you will have more people to connect with on your time schedule. Try to make it a habit to connect on a personal basis with the people who you come in contact with during the day. Not to pitch them on your opportunity now; but to contact them later to see if they are open. If you don’t meet people every day, you may have better luck with Article Marketing, Social Networking, Safelists or any of the dozens of other methods to generate new leads. There are MANY ways to meet people. The goal is to find people who are looking for opportunity who you make a connection with.

Use these tips and you will be well on your way to building a full time income even with limited time available to you. How to Build a Business Even With No Time!

This is an excellent article. With everyone's busy schedule, it is very important to make a list of priorities. I have to agree that a goal(s) and a timeline are most important. If there are no goals, there is no business. The goal for most businesses is making money. If the business does not make money right away, we tend to lose interest. Internet businesses require time and patience. Some businesses don't belong on the Internet and need to shut down, but for the most part, most businesses are good and could be profitable if we would follow Linda's 5 Steps.  I appreciate you making reference to the original article in this post. You are  a true professional!!

This article means a lot to me because I wrote it when I was spending time with my grandfather right before he passed away.

At the time, I was spending 80 hours per week working and although my business was growing, I was frustrated because I did not have any time to build my business. 

Then, I listened to one of Daegan Smith's trainings where he said that if you write 2 articles per day for 60 days and you post them to six sites, you will easily generate 20 new leads a day. 

A few months later, I wrote 120 articles, posted most of them to Ezine, (not the other directories as Daegan suggested) and now I get about 5 leads a day from these articles.

The key to articles, like anything else, is to write quality and quantitiy.  Right now, I have the Top 2 Articles on Ezine articles, which account for 3 of those 5 leads every day.  8 or 9 other articles account for the other 2 leads each day and the other 100 articles combined account for about 1 new friend/lead per week.
