How to Effectively Use Social Networks to Build Your Business - Network Etiquette

I just wanted to share this with everyone as apparently it is not common knowledge for some on social networks.

As we know, in all relationships (including business) there are certain etiquettes that must be met. The same is actually true about social networks.

Think about social networks as a business meeting or event. Would you walk around a live event, shove a business card in people's faces, and then shove your product in their faces?

Ofcourse, the answer is no. There are certain social etiquettes that must be met before a business relationship can begin. This very same thing applies to the social networks.

So I wanted to share a tip about advertising on other people's profiles.

The proper etiquette is NOT to do so.

Imagine this.... you have your own storefront business. Someone walks by and tapes a sign on YOUR window advertising their business across the street.

How furious would you be?

Exactly!!

So, proper etiquette on the social networks is to NOT advertise your business or affiliates by writing on people's profiles in the network.

It's simply flat out rude. It's also a great way for people to question your character.

In fact, today I had to delete such a post.

I then made a mental note of the person who posted it... my guard is officially up with that person.

As we know... when we are doing business we want to take people's guards down... NOT build a higher wall!  When you are posting your ad everywhere, including people's profiles, you are labeling yourself as a "spammer" within the community and putting people's guards up.

This is NOT the result you are looking for in the social networks.

You are looking for people to become comfortable with you, view you as a leader, and bring their guards down so you can build a relationship with them.

In building a relationship with others, I like to ask them about their opportunity and how things are going.  I then ask what is working for them and what is not working.  I also like to ask what it is they are being taught to help build their business.  If there is a suggestion I can give them, I offer it.  No strings attached.  This will build people's curiousity and drive traffic to my profile page where I have additional free information for them.

From there, I have links that direct people to my capture page with more free offers.  This aids me in building my "list"... and as we know, building a list is a key component in building your business.  Again, these techniques help to break down the barrier and allow me to build a relationship with someone.

I have been using these techniques for quite some time now with wonderful results.  I hope you find these as helpful tips to build your own business and use the social networks effectively.  Feel free to contact me should you have any questions on how to effectively build your business on the social networks.

Blessings,
