How To Find Your Courage

Read More: Personal Development

People who succeed in life and business talk about the courage it takes to step away from the crowd and do something important to them. The problem is, other people do not want us to escape the box they put us in and feel intimidated when we step out of it and do what they wanted to do themselves but were afraid to take the risk. We can be sure that these people will tease us, intimidate us, and do whatever it takes to get us back into the box.

I know this because that is exactly what happened to me with my close friends and family. I was mom to my kids, and will always be just mom. To my friends, I was a crazy person who always chases rainbows but will never find one. To my husband, I was a dreamer that spent too much time and money on going after something that will never be obtained. Of course, these people have reasons for their point of view. These people want to support us but they can't, because they think we will likely fail.

Does this sound familiar to you and what you've been experiencing? Have you had a hard time gathering up courage and stepping out there into the unknown when you fear failure might be in the air? I know this fear, but fear cannot keep us from the potential inside us that needs expressing so we take the risk inspite of fear. What you need is something to grasp hold of when things come at you and challenge your courage.

My something was an experience I had that wasvery personal. I saw in my mind's eye that I would be helping people, and I could hear people talking among themselves about how I have made a difference in their lives. I felt it was from God, that He was letting me know I would succeed by His standards and not necessarily by the world's standards. That bit of knowlege gave me the courage to overcome every single obstacle that was put in front of me. I knew I was doing what I needed to do and that it was worthy of my perserverance.

The point is that you need to find something inside to hold onto when life hits you hard, when challenges force you to make the decision to continue or give up, and when your commitment is not appreciated by those you admire. Life is what you make of it and not what others want from you (to a point, of course). You have to be true to yourself and to the commitment you made to yourself. You will go no where in your pursuts without that commitment you've made to yourself and honoring who you are inside.

So now what? You have a dream, you have a plan, you have commitment to yourself and honor who you are inside, you know who you are, but do you know what's next? Do you know what the next step is to keep you focused and on target? Do you have a mentor who understands your vision and can be honest with you and hold? Will your mentor hold your feet to the fire when you would rather pull back? Do you know what connections you need to make to move ahead? Do you know how to improve your weakness and make it a strength? These questions, when answered, will make the difference between failure and success.

Once you are moving and creating momentum, it will not be difficult to find courage and continue forward. The feelings you get from a soaring spirit and when your heart swells with excitement, is all you need to stay motivated. Action overcomes fear and builds confidence by doing something you love and shows your skills. Go for it and keep in touch with me. Let me know how you feel as things become better and better and better. Let me share in your joys and celebrations or in your lows and disappointments. I'm a really good listener and I can be very excited with you as well.

My passon, thoughts, and prayers are with you.  Just like the video shown on the side panel of this blog says, "Lean On Me When You're Not Strong. I'll Be Your Friend. I'll Help You Carry On!".
