How To Post Like A *Rock Star* -- And Create An Endless Following Of Fans
How do you go about generating high-quality leads from our very own Magnetic Sponsoring community? I'd like to talk a bit about (and demonstrate :) how to use articles to do just that. Here are five principles...
Okay, so you’ve become a member of this community and now you’re ready to really make these pages work for you so that you can begin to wake up every day to an inbox filled with high-quality leads. Serious leads, people like yourself – that’s obviously what you want for your business. And what better place to find them than right here, on these very pages, among your own peers?
Oh, and by the way, contrary to what logic may tell you, it’s not true that everyone here has a business already, or that they’re so thrilled with where they’re at that they’re completely closed to other options. Network actively in this community for some time, and you’ll see... :)
So what I’d like to do, is talk specifically about how you can use articles and blogs to establish a presence here in the MS community. It’s something that I’ve found really works for me, and which continues to draw visitors to my websites.
Now if you’re familiar with the concept of Magnetic Sponsoring, (and I’m going to assume that you are since you’re a member here,) you know that pitching your opportunity is the kiss of death for your business, and that never, ever, ever should you post something solely for the reason of trying to draw traffic to your site.
Instead, (as you know), you want to position yourself as a leader and begin to provide some real good content that your fellow networkers can benefit from.
As you do, here are a few things to keep in the forefront of your mind.
Principle #1: Post Frequently & Consistently
You can’t throw in a couple of paragraphs once in a blue moon and expect to instantly become an MS rock star – no matter how great your content is. It just doesn’t work that way. Consistency is key. You need to get people to trust you before they will buy into your opportunity, and so your focus needs to be on building that trust.
Trust springs from familiarity. And familiarity from frequency. So post your blogs and articles regularly so that people get used to seeing your face and your name out there, and, just as importantly, that they come to associate quality with your particular face and name. When they start to see you as a trusted source of information, that’s when they come knocking at your door asking for more.
All right. So, how often should you post, then?
I know some real gifted people that are able to post quality content as often as once or twice a day, but I have to admit that’s a bit more than I, personally, can keep up with. You've got to find out what works for you. My goal is to try to always have something posted on the very first page of the “community site”. That way you can get to at least one of my articles without having to hit the “next” button first.
As other posts come in, they naturally begin to push mine down, and that's my cue to head back to my notepad. It's only a general rule, but for me it's a way to make sure I stay consistent and maintain a certain visibility in the community.
Principle #2 Post "News They Can Use"
There certainly are a great deal of intriguing subjects you could write about, but if you’re posting here in this community and your goal is to get a lot of clicks, votes, and productive feedback, then you want to focus on general subjects related to networking, marketing and business building that are of interest to everyone, regardless of what company they’re with.
There’s nothing wrong in posting an article where you lay out the benefits of air purifiers or discuss how to become a better golfer if that’s what you’re passionate about...I’m not saying that.
What I’m saying is, that if what you are aiming for is that “high profile” in the community where your articles get featured and others start to take notice of you – then you want to focus on the very practical and useful stuff…the “how-to” stuff that people can immediately implement into their businesses and get quick results from.
Some examples of heavy-hitting topics would be “How to pick killer keywords,” “How to position yourself as a leader before you are one”, and “How to get search engines to love your blog”. If these headlines sound familiar, they should. All three are the titles of recently featured articles here on this website.
If you want to score big with your readers, then provide them with something that will help save them time and money. Or, even better – make them money. Trust me, they will love you to pieces for it. ;)
Principle #3 Have An Opinion -- And Shout It Out!
Yes, that’s right! Speak your mind! (Just make sure you know what you are talking about.) Leaders have opinions. They speak with authority. They make decisions. They lead. We regard people who don’t take sides as weak and wishy-washy, while we admire those that have the guts to speak up.
You don’t want people yawning while they’re reading your blog, you want to get them all juiced up, right? You want them to walk away with their thinking stimulated and even better, their views challenged. Personally, I would rather have ten people strongly disagree with what I write than one hundred who don’t have an opinion.
(Now maybe you don't agree with that, but if you don’t, that’s even better ;)
Principle #4 Leverage Your Efforts & Maximize Your Exposure
Always write material that’s suited to be posted in many different places. Always, always maximize your time and your effort. Because there’s just no lack of networking sites out there where you can post your blogs and articles. A few that come to mind are www.NetworkAndGrow.com, www.MyMLMWorld.com, www.MLMarticledirectory.com, and www.MLMarticlesonline.com
Now in my opinion, none of them measure up to our MS site, but, still, if you post quality content there, and if it doesn’t cost you any extra time because you’re using the same article that you used here, it can only work in your favor.
And then of course you have all the various online article directories. There are literally hundreds of them out there. Now you can’t do them all, it’s simply too much work, even with article submission software, but you want to pick a dozen or so of the most popular ones. And then you want to keep posting in those same directories, regularly.
Again, what you’re doing is you’re creating a presence there, and so, frequency is key. (Frequency, remember, leads to familiarity, which in turn leads to trust.) Personally, I prefer those directories that let you upload your picture and add a short bio, such as www.EzineArticles.com, www.IdeaMarketers.com, www.ArticlesFactory.com, www.ArticlesDashboard.com, www.GoArticles.com, and www.Alumbo.com.
It’s pure psychology, really: while the prospect is reading my article, they have a face and a personality to relate to what they’re reading. Which makes them feel as if they’re getting to know me, and less inclined to think that I’ve got something to hide.
Also, what is so great about EzineArticles, is that if they like your submission, they’ll not only post it in their directory but they’ll give you “Expert Author” status as well, together with some nifty looking buttons to add on your website to show that EzineArticles has featured your article. This, in turn, helps you build credibility with your readers and the visitors to your website.
Principle # 5 Make It “Short & Sweet”
In our day of instant gratification, people rarely have the patience to sift through dense paragraphs packed with information – even if the info is useful. We click on someone’s article, look for something that grabs us, and if we don’t find it right away and the page looks crowded, we’re not likely to stick around and look for it. Not when there’s a gazillion other postings screaming for our attention one click away.
I’m not saying to compromise the content – the great content needs to be there every single time -- but give it to your readers in tasty, bite-sized portions. If your article gets too long, simply split it into a first and a second part. This is a great “trick” also because it creates anticipation in your readers. If they got something useful out of the first part, you can be pretty sure they will come back for the second!
Well, I have a lot more to say about this subject, but -- realizing that I've already broken principle #5 -- I’m going to follow my own counsel and leave the rest for a second posting. And so, as you’re going to see right now, what I do before I sign off, is I give you a sneak peak of what I’m going to discuss in the second part --
In the second part of this article I’ll talk about creative ways to find great material for your articles and blogs, how to come up with headlines that guarantee you’ll get lots of clicks, and how you can easily make your presence felt in the MS “featured” section --even if your articles haven’t made it there yet.
See how that works? Now I’ve made you curious. Now you want to know what I meant by all that…
Don’t you…..?
See you in part II! ;)
