How to take the High road...
This is a story of two roads, the high road and the low road.
Both these roads parallel each other and can be seen from each side.
The high road is a super highway that is free from obstruction,
pot holes, and is a smooth even blacktop surface and easily traveled.
The low road is dirt and gravel. It is full of potholes, and debris.
It is rough and there is no even smooth surface anywhere along its
length.
Why would someone prefer to travel the low road when they can clearly
see the high road just on the other side of the median. There are
many places to cross that are marked as an entrance to the high road.
However there is a gate at these crossing. It is unlocked and all you
have to do is to open it and drive through it to enter the high road.
A small effort would put you on the high road. How many of us are
willing to get started by just putting forth a small effort. Effort
does not go unnoticed and effort is the thing that puts plans in
action. So ask yourself are you willing to put forth the beginning
of a life long effort to put yourself on and continue down the high road.

But my car
I believe the prevailing thought is that I will get run over because my car isn't good enough to keep up with the people traveling that road. I believe your doing your part to change that. Good reading.

We all have choices...
We are all responsable to make things happen in our lives.
And it does not matter how far you've walked on the wrong road. Turn back!

First things 1st...
After reading this story, I came to the conclusion that if the sad truth is that there are some people that are so afraid of change and preoccupied with FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) that they get comfortable traveling on the low road.
They have grown accustomed to the dirt and gravel bumpy road filled with pot holes. They have accepted this low road as their TRUTH and their REALITY. They don’t even see the clearly marked entrances to the high road!
I believe that there are several steps one must take before he or she can put forth the EFFORT to get on that high road. The first and probably most critical in my opinion is DESIRE. One must first have the DESIRE to get off of the low road and change.
Those people driving on that low road will miss every entrance sign to the high road because they lack the DESIRE to get on the high road.
For example, I have a friend who is approaching his mid 30’s and doesn’t have any children yet. He comes by my house sometimes and always makes comments about how he loves the way I interact and spend time with my kids. I usually respond with, when are you and the wife going to have kids? His usual response is, “I just don’t have the energy to raise kids now”, or “I’m to stressed with work to raise kids now”. His lack of DESIRE to have kids of his own is causing him to miss the signs such as his wife painting their extra bedroom blue for my son “Their Godson”, and loading it up with all types of goodies for kids. The point is, the DESIRE must be their 1st in order for any EFFORT is put forth to change or act on plans.
My 63 cents….

Fear of losing what you have?
Maybe these folks on the low road are just afraid of losing what they have put into the low road.
They've put a lot of money into letting others know about the low road, they've paid money to be able to use the low road themself, and the people taking their money keep telling them how good the low road is.
I mean, if that many people recommend the low road, it really is good, isn't it?
I know it doesn't have the 5 layers of a good road: road base, compaction, asphalt, smooth surface, and maintenance, but look how many people are telling me it's a good road.
I can't let go of my dirt road, I've just invested way too much in it and I'm going to keep telling people how great it is too, after all I get paid for getting more people on the dirt road. Why should I quit?
Anyway, I don't know how good the high road really is. I've never travelled it.
Hmmm..... Food for thought.

Love the choice
Most people just drive not knowing there is a choice. So take a small amount of effort to better their direct. I tell my friends that I can drive from Virginia to Seattle by heading west but that takes far too long ( I will get there in a week or two) but if I map where I am heading, it is a easier, faster and a more enjoyable trip. You have an important post that most people seem to over look.
Many Thanks,

Give Me The High Road!
Thanks James. How often we sometimes just stay on the low road because change is so hard. I have changed lanes and I am with you on the High Road!

High road, Low road, Old dirt road
Then there's the path less traveled, the winding trail that takes us to places never before imagined!
fear, too busy and too lazy
One reason is it takes too much effort to change your way of thinking. People get in rutts and like living that way. Another possible reason is they are afraid of failing, so in order not to look stupid, they don't even try to get out of the mundane life. People are often too busy to try to achieve something more.
Kudos to you for pressing on the upward way.
