How Top Producers Think & Act

Read More: Mindset  |  Personal Development

When I sit down to write most of my training, (like the post that you are reading right now) I'm usually riding a recumbent bike at the gym, either warming up for a workout or chrunin' out 15 to 20 miles to burn off an extra scoop of death by chocolate and hot fudge! ;)

Now although I rarely finish a training message in one sitting, it's a normal occurrence when I'm working out to come up with a lot of my business plans and figure out solutions to any challenges I may be facing at the time. (Notice I said, “facing”, not turning my back on or running away from…a lesson inside a lesson!) Anyway, what happens when I start creating copy on my iPhone, is that most of the words I start typing are finished for me, without me having to even finish typing the word myself.  In other words, my phone actually guesses which word I'm going to type based on its first few letters and surprisingly enough, it chooses the correct word most of the time and simply fills in the rest of the letters. If not, I just finish the word myself.  It’s Apple Intuition and it allows me to pump out 25 to 30 words per minute on a keyboard no larger than a mini deck of cards, while I burn about 700 calories in 45 minutes. (This is the only type of multi-tasking I recommend - physical and mental at the same time.) Anyway, here's my point: I just get the word started and the rest just gets filled in.

And this is exactly how your business should & will grow.

When you start a new project, a new venture or any revenue producing activity, it might take some effort to get the ball rolling and get the ideas flowing, but in due time, when its all supposed to happen, the rest will just come to you naturally, like the iPhone filling in the letters of my words.  Since I never force myself to sit down and write, prospect, follow up, collect a decision, or train my team, I trust and expect that what I want to say just comes naturally without effort.  It's called the hands free zone where you just trust what you say, speak and feel.  This means that you quit worrying about what everybody else thinks of you and just produce.  This is when you give up taking things personally, quit looking for things to be offended by and just produce.  This is when you quit walking so delicately, trying not to ruffle anyone’s feathers and just offer those who qualify for a great opportunity a chance to change their lives.  And when things don’t go as planned, you don’t get all bent out of shape and start doubting yourself or your business.  This is called expecting the best, but accepting the worst.  This doesn’t mean you settle for mediocrity.  It means that you should never cry over anything that cannot cry back.  As Jesse Ventura said in the movie Predator, “I ain’t got time to bleed”.  Some call it the “zone”. Some call it “flow”. I just call it living with PME.  I’m sure you’ve heard that having a positive mental attitude is critical to your success, but just as important if not more important, is what I call, Positive Mental Expectation.  PME is about “speaking and thinking into existence the act that will follow.” It’s a very common way for top producers to live their lives and run their businesses.  For example, not too long ago I started a post at my blog page, but had a tough time putting everything I wanted to say into words.  I was distracted by phone calls, door bell ringing, family obligations- you name it.  It took several days to finally get the post to where I wanted it.  And you know what - it's still not perfect and probably never will be.  But even though it’s not perfect and wasn't from my first draft, I still published it.  I posted it long before it was ready and in the past week, while it’s been viewed by hundreds, possibly thousands of my subscribers, I improved it and worked on it to where it is right now.   Apparently it made its point, as it has set many dozens of leaders on the right track.  Either way, the point to my message today is this.  Start something you've been putting off, even if you don't know exactly how it’s going to turn out. Start your own blog.  Start your own system or website with a lead capture page that converts.  Start testing the one you’ve been working on.  Start a new series of autoresponders that educates your subscribers.  Start submitting articles to different submission sites.  Nothing has to be perfect to get it started.  You don't even know how you are going to finish it.  Just start it and the rest will fill itself in. You’d be surprised just how brilliant you truly are.  Just like the words in my iPhone.  Just like every great idea you've ever had.  Just like your own personal growth and development.  Your business and your success will always be a work in progress with constant and never ending improvement.  Just remember – you do not have to get it right – just get it going!  ************

Thank you for this Aaron...I

Thank you for this Aaron...I have seen all too many times people who "get ready to get ready" when in reality, they should skip "get ready and just....GO!"  Most of the time the details and the means work themselves out on their own!  So much greatness from those who are in this industry sit and lie in wait....I say, as Jerry Clarke would say, "GO GO GO"!!

Again, I really look forward to your insights!  Thank you for helping me develop into the leader and the business person I know I am!

Best Regards,
Pam

I like the iphone analogy

I like the iphone analogy because it reminds me of how Zig Zigler talks about priming the pump and after awhile once the water begins to flow, it's virtually on autopilot because of the momentum so it becomes easier than when you first began pumping to maintain the flow.

Also I love PME and you're right about expectation being one of the many positive traits of a leader. I have been applying this type of thinking lately by humming a little song I made up in my head for obtaining SVP (Senior Vice President) in my company. The tone and mood of the song puts me in a fired up state of mind much like athletes listen to various songs to get them going before a game, competition, etc.

I expect I will be an SVP and that leaders and future leaders will come into my life and together we will do some awesome work!

I appreciate the post and I look forward to more of your wisdom and insight.

Continued Success,

Naturally

I love the comment that you never force yourself to sit down to write, prospect, follow up, collect a decision, or train my team, you trust and expect that what you want to say just comes naturally without effort. You don't wait until things are perfect, just produce, produce, produce. Great article, it really gave me lots to think about!!

Manifesting your Future...

Loved the refference to the Law of Attraction. I believe PME works, as long as you put your belief in it. And you are also right about just getting things started, often times we are so paralized by our need for perfection that we never get started.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

This was about the best thing I've read here

Your post was so original and became something bigger than maybe how it started. YOU ARE SO RIGHT! Its about GOING instead of just thinking about it. I've been trying to think of a way to leverage myself in a way that wil set me up for my future online. I'll just say now, that I AM going to start a website, with a auto-responder that educates and pumps up subscribers! What a great idea! I'm a graphic/web desinger so this is going to be soon. I'm going to subscribe to your site today. (And this is how it works.......read some good info........I then subscribe to his page.....and now I'm a subscriber......with possibility of sticking with him forever)

I love technology phones too, I have a Sidekick LX and I write things often and e-mail them to myself. I knew I couldn't have been the only one doing that. Great post. Glad I read it. Thanks for the push.

Keep on planning & producing

Hi Aaron

Thank you so much for that! Very empowering and like Napoleon Hill said ”If you make a plan and that plan fails then make a new plan, if that plan fails make a new plan. The only people who fail in life are those who give up”.
