I am Looking for the Right MLM Opportunity- answer
There sure appears to be so many "great" MLM opportunities out there. With whatever you choose, make sure you read the policies and procedures. I have always been surprised by how many companies do not allow, but don't tell you, they won't allow specific internet marketing. I like what Mike Dillard teaches in his MLM Traffic Formula (http://mlmleadsystem.mlmtrafficformula.com) about branding yourself first. As with picking a company, find something you can stand behind, and more importantly, can stand behind you. Get the numbers; see how many people you must have in your downline and how much product volume they must doing in order for you to make "X" amount of money. I love to ask the question, "how many active people and how much volume is needed to make 10K a month?" Too many can't give an answer or refer to the "potential" of making money. This is my business, I want solid answers, solid numbers.
So before starting into another "opportunity" go back to the basics and become a student of the business. Learn from the best out there. Know what makes a company good and how you can be great in the company. It's time to put some hours and sweat into your business.

Workarounds
G'day Brendan,
You are absolutely right, before joining any business (be it MLM, affiliate, or any other setup) one should read the fine print, understand the details. In fact, this is pretty good common sense advice for signing up to anything, business or otherwise.
With your specific comment about Internet marketing of certain businesses, this can impact in different ways, depending on the focus. When trying to attract business builders, the impact would be minimal if generic techniques and tools are used. As a fan of Mike Gillard's stuff, I'm sure you know this already.
In terms of retail sales, generic techniques and custom landing pages on a theme (but with no specific product branding) can be used to find product clients. Of course, to actually close sales, you then would need to follow up using the "approved" methods.
Another thing that's worth considering is this: generally speaking, companies with such restrictions in place tend to move product via network marketing. On that basis, using tools such as Magnetic Sponsoring will help build a sales organisation, and avoid issues with Ts & Cs.
Keep on sweating!
