I think I am better than you- guess again!!
Humble Pie

Well when we start to get annoyed with the way others behave or choices they make is it because we think we are more enlightened. Our way is definitely better! I have to admit I am guilty of this. It all came to light when my husband and I were having some tough days. He kept doing things the wrong way, or not my way at least. I suggested we go to see a counselor to fix him, just so he could get it right. Guess what?! We each took this test that rated us on different aspects of ourselves and life. My score was only 5 points more positive than his, not as big a difference as I thought. Turns out I am just as messed up as he is!! I found this hilariousLOL. We both have areas of weakness we need to work on which doesn't make me any better than him. This taught me a valuable lesson. Don't think because you have certain gifts and talents that you are better than the next guy. Or if you have more material possessions you have greater worth than a homeless person. The point is we are all imperfect and we are all human. I ate my humble pie and focus harder on peoples strengths intead of their weakness. Funny thing is my world seemed to have changed for the better.

How true, How true...
It's always easy to judge someone quickly until you put yourself in their shoes. They may have had totally different life experiences than you that brought them to where they are.
You may excel in one area of your life that I'm screwed up in or vice-versa. That makes neither of us better or worse overall simply because we excel in some visible area.
I may look to be totally on top of things, but massively flawed in some way unknown to the average person.
We each have things we can improve on in various areas of our lives, and will do far better to be supportive of those who are different from us than if we judge and devalue them.
Thanks for the article.

Lifes Wounders
There are many times in our life that we think we are perfect. Until you look at a reflection of yourself from anothers eyes. Life has many roads to travel the one you travel may not always be the best road but it is the one you chose to travel. Without help and guidence we all travel some longer paths in life.
Great story Dorie I can tell from your writing you have began your journey down a diferent path in life. Keep up the good work.

Congrats! A quick question.
Hi Dorie,
Congratulations! Sharing the lesson you've learned is just as important as learning it. It makes it real in the world. As others have shared, no one is perfect, the best we can hope for is to be impeccible and maybe to bowl a "perfect" game. ;-)
Consider adding to the "I'm better than you" thought, "my opinions are better than yours", "my tactics are better than yours". etc., etc. I must remind myself regularly that each is entitled to their way.
Just for fun here's a question. There is one basic driving factor humans all work for, and unfortunately, will lie, cheat and steal for it. Can you guess what it is?

I'll take a stab at this, Rick
Rick,

My first inclination was to respond, "money". However, I'm going to guess the right answer is "Love".

We all have some form of Neurosis
Very true and a good observation...
We all have some form of neurosis, we are in fact designed that way...in fact ...and I'm going to put this out there (wether you believe this or not) we actually choose this ourselves and then life's psychological conditions begin to imprint on us (the external physical) until at some point we make the decision to change...this is our life's lesson....or lessons.
It's true some choose to ignore these lessons but you are correct it does not make them any lesser on the inside...what you see is external and really the ego/personality at work. This is not who we are "Spiritually"...
This is why It is wrong to judge the book by it's cover....how can you possibly know what a person's life lessons are from the outside....you may be able to see what they have manifested so far...but they might want it that way....'Spiritually'.
When you find yourself judging another...it is wise to pinch yourself and ask...what is it that you are judging about yourself really...what is the truth behind the way it makes you feel....
Oh yeah...almost forgot......this is all much easier said than done of course!!
Excellent post.!!
