I Want An Oompa-Loompa... RIGHT NOW!!!
There’s actually a saying in our house… well, more of an abbreviation. Every now and then, one of us will admit to having O.L.S. or “Oompa-Loompa Syndrome,” which is a way of confessing to being impatient about something. Granted we are usually joking around when we use that saying, because excitement and eagerness are things we are all prone to… the key is recognizing that you are being overly excited, and are not creating reasonable expectations for yourself.
Sadly, that is easier said than done for many, especially people who are new to the internet marketing industry and don’t really grasp the full picture of what we do yet. Here is a brief (yet incredibly accurate) video that depicts the conversations and attitudes of the brand new “I’m going to get rich quick” internet marketer:

I really feel like it’s perfect. Veruca (the new internet marketer), wants her Oompa-Loompa (success/financial freedom). A slightly more experienced marketer (Veruca’s father) tells her it won’t happen RIGHT AWAY, which prompts her to “whine” (opportunity hop/call it a scam and quit all together), until Violet (someone who is established and tired of the immediate gratification mentality) tells her to CAN IT.
I can’t help but picture Mike Dillard in Violet’s place every time I watch that clip, and it makes me happy. Everyone needs a “Violet” from time to time. Someone who knows what they are talking about to provide a little dose of reality.
I know the vast majority of internet marketers enter the industry with big dreams and end up with an even bigger reality check. How many of your prospects come into this industry or your company like Veruca, and force you to take on the roll of Violet?
Most (if not all) of the people reading this article are the type that understood pretty quickly that they wouldn’t get their Oompa-Loompa right away, but through patience and dedication they would have all that they desired.
The reason the attrition rate is so high in this industry is that the minute people are told they can’t have their fortune and success right away, they give up on that company and start looking for an immediate Oompa-Loompa somewhere else instead.
Too many people don’t find their Oompa-Loompa right away in one business and then immediately jump to the next flashy thing that catches their eye, assuming that the first company is somehow flawed, and that it failed them in some way. The fact that there are plenty of successful people out there doesn’t tell them anything at all. What it SHOULD tell them is that the system, or business does work, if you give it the time it needs and take the right actions.
These are the overall important things (which someone should have told Veruca):
- Don’t expect overnight results. You have to be patient to gain success. Give it time, don’t give up and your Oompa-Loompa will come.
- The people who HAVE Oompa-Loompas worked hard to get them. They spent money to get them, invested time and energy to EARN them. Acquiring your own Oompa-Loompa will require the same.
- Don’t opportunity hop. The process of getting an Oompa-Loompa (succeeding in one company) is going to be very similar to getting a Golden Goose (succeeding in another company).
- Don’t whine about not making money right away. If you make Violet angry, Mike will probably yell at you. Just kidding Mike.
- Ultimately we all have to remember that our Oompa-Loompa (success) resides inside us, and we must simply coax it out.

Very Cute Comparison!
I love how you used a well known story (or movie if you prefer). It puts it into a perspective everyone can understand.
I can understand this is a
I can understand this is a problem, Lynn and Chad...moving from one company to another to get success. This is a real interesting article and has made me think about my journey until now.
I really do not want to be like Veruca, but I sometimes have landed in a "firm" which is filled with "goodies" that are not really there to satisfy the cry for a "Oompa-Loompa", but rather cause a depre-mode which causes one to look for a more serious and supportive possibility. This I would like to suggest is part of the "Oompa-Loompa" eyes looking for the 1 to 5 points you have pointed out to eventually get the REAL Oompa-Loompa.
On the otherside, there is so much information about Oompa-Loompas that it is for someone like myself just moving into internet marketing sometimes difficult to know who to believe and this in return takes the "RIGHT NOW" away and teaches patience.
So, I will take on point 5.......and am thankful for all out there who give guidance and teaching in this respect. Thanks to you both too.

My Experence has been that Educating your Self about what does and does not work on the internet is a sure thing. My Good Friend and Mentor Michael Dloghy has been Coaching and mentoring me now for Free. For about 4 months. And I wish I had of found Mentoring for Free First. It has really helped me have Success. When you are in a Company for more then 6 months still not making any money and not able to Build a list on line. Then you need a Mentor. You are not being like Veruca You simply may not be getting the education you need.

Agreed - Education is key
Getting the education/mentoring you need is vital! Providing our team and prospects with as much training and resources as possible is the foundation of our business... and if someone isn't getting that training in their business, then they should absolutely be seeking it out.
The Verucas of the the world simply throw up their hands and walk away (or keep switching companies without taking any responsibility for their own results), while true entrepreneurs will recognize that to succeed, we all must grow, and seek out the necessary assistance and education (as Juanita described). If you want an Oompa Loompa, and can't seem to get one on your own... ask someone else how they got theirs :) - but don't ask them "what's the shortcut?" you have to be prepared to work for what you want.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Short cut? Not really the best way.
I know you are right. I so want that "short cut" but something my husband always says is, if it is worth having, it is worth working for. When it finally does come it will be earned and handled differently than something just handed down. Plus, coming from a family that owned a brick and morter business, I had to learn everything about it from the ground up, working from the ground up means you know what you are doing and can show someone else how to get there. In the MLM business that is exactly what we have to do, show others what we did from the ground up so they can copy it. If we go the "short cut" route, others may not be able to follow.
Thanks for the fun way you expressed this, it will be a great way to explain it to other business associates.
