Independence: An Argument for Starting Your Own Home Business
So you're thinking about starting a home business. I'm sure you already have your own personal reasons of why this would be a great thing to do. Here's a list of the most common reasons why most people take the leap of faith in themselves and get started. See if there are any items you haven't thought of yet.
1) You want more time with your loved ones.
This is easily the number one reason that home-based businesses are started today. And why shouldn't it be? Time is the one thing we never get more of. We all need to learn to spend it wisely.
2 ) Work for yourself instead of putting money in someone Else's pocket.
Most of us know how frustrating it is working long hours for someone else. All your efforts are going towards growing a business, without ever seeing the profits of your efforts personally.
3) Flexible Schedule
How would your life improve if you could choose the hours in a day that you work? I know personally this is one of the biggest benefits for me. There's work to be done so I do it. When it's completed…I'm done. I don't need to make up things to do to look busy for a boss. I don't have to sit at my desk, wishing I was somewhere else. How powerful is that?
4) No Commute
This may seem an obvious benefit, but think about it for a minute. How much time out of your day is completely wasted during your drive to and from work? I know it used to be a time I could get prepared for my work day, or decompress after work before I got home. But wouldn't you rather spend another hour in bed preparing your work day in your mind? Wouldn't it be ideal to walk from your home office to your living room to decompress? The average working American wastes 10% of their work week commuting.
5) Your Paycheck is Determined by YOU.
What your paycheck looks like is now dependent solely on what you earn. Not what someone else decides you're worth.
6) Tax Advantages
There are many legitimate tax advantages to owning and operating your business from home. Items you were unable to deduct before can now decrease the gross income you're responsible for. Incorporating properly will help you deflect a great deal of risk as well. Have a discussion with your accountant regarding the specifics.
7) Live Where You Choose
As long as you have an internet connection and a mobile phone, you can literally work from anywhere. If you've been stuck living somewhere you'd rather not be, consider those days gone.
8.) Reduce Your Overhead Expenses
The cost of a brick and mortar business is the albatross hanging around countless businesses in our country today. Eliminating these costs from your balance sheet raises your success rate exponentially. The age of the internet has allowed entrepreneurs to create traffic to their 'store' without the overhead. This is huge.
9) Vacation and Sick Days
No longer do you have to schedule your hard-earned vacation time around someone else's timetable. Sick today? Take the day off. Want to fake it? Take the day off. Of course you wouldn't want to fake it too much….who are you fooling?
10) Wasted and Negative Energy
You may not have considered this one when thinking about working from home but it can be significant. Think about how much effort you give to hating your boss or your situation. This negativity isn't doing you one bit of good personally. Channel that energy into growing your own business and the rewards are priceless.
If you're debating whether or not to start your own home business let me leave you with these thoughts. The biggest obstacles for most people are: a) what to sell, b) how to sell, and c) getting good quickly enough to be profitable. I've been fortunate enough to find a company that has finally put it all together and made it profitable for everyone involved.

Independence....Starting Home based business
Hello Dan,
Thank you for taking time and so very in a detail to outlaying reasons for starting "Home based business". I think that with those reasons known to us all (no harm reinstating it though) we could generally identify. So I would like to comment basically on "end" of your article.
People fail a lot starting their "Home businesses" over 90 percent statistically. Many have found really good opportunity, great system, just to duplicate, but main obstacle in their success, almost in 90 percent of cases (assuming not trying to succeed in "scams") is their lack of discipline.
Shortly I shall post article on that "virtue" as an authority on the subject. I know what I am talking about and after reading article (or before, not that important when) feel free to check my bio.
I hope discussion shall follow than, because this is THE biggest barrier to success of majority who no matter how sincerely and with hopes and dreams took steps commencing something, shall never progress enough to achieve their goals and dreams. Help could be on the way!
Talk to you all soon!
Regards,
Maya
Love this!
I couldn't agree more with your reasons. I just started reading Why We Want You to Be Rich and it really echoes a lot of these points. I'm so greatful I found out about network marketing as a younger person. I fully plan on being retired by the time I'm 35 or 40.

Thanks Erika
I actually did start at a younger age but at that time there wasn't even an internet. Yikes. You'll enjoy the book. If you haven't read "The Business School For People Who Like Helping People" by Robert Kiyosaki, I'd recommend that one too.
Take good care and be well.
