Ethics!

The definition from Mariam Webster on line dictionary says:

1plural but sing or plural in constr : the discipline dealing with what is good and bad and with moral duty and obligation2 a: a set of moral principles : a theory or system of moral values <the present-day materialistic ethic> <an old-fashioned work ethic> —often used in plural but singular or plural in construction <an elaborate ethics><Christian ethics> bplural but sing or plural in constr : the principles of conduct governing an individual or a group <professional ethics> c: a guiding philosophy d: a consciousness of moral importance <forge a conservation ethic>3plural : a set of moral issues or aspects (as rightness) <debated the ethics of human clonin

I was in Church on Sunday and the Priest told us that the number one elective in our Graduate schools is Classes on Ethics.  He explained that Liability was an obvious reason.  But the demand is greater than our Future leaders learning how to protect themselves.  I for one think it is great that our future Doctors, Lawyers, and other Professionals are interested in Ethics. Their thirst to learn how to act with morals is commendable.  I also am a little sad that we need to teach Ethics in College.  Shouldn't that have been ingrained in us from day one?  I admit I have had a few lapses in judgement and I am far from perfect but I always, deep inside, know right from wrong.

We often get caught up in our businesses.  I am sometimes faced with making the Sale or telling the customer that if they buy that particular car it may or may not be driveable in the winter.  It is tough!

I am also a Professional Network Marketer and faced with decisions everyday.  I still need help making the right choice.  First I have Prayer to help me.  Then Family.   And Now I have a great group of peers that will always tell me like it is.  With this Mentoring I will definetely make the right choice.

But what about those who do not have that mentoring?  There are many choices we make in this wonderful industry.  Some Companies have compensation plans that are designed to reward the people at the top and feed off the newbies that don't know any better.  Some are designed to make the company owners wealthier and keep the masses content.  Then there are some that are illegal.  If you need help to identify an illegal company, or if your compensation plan is fair, e-mail me and I will give you tools to determine the answers to these questions..  I myself have been in an illegal company and when I was shown the law, I got out.  I would not feel good getting someone involved in a company that is not legal.  The monetary reward is very high in the company I was in but it was wrong.  Many people are still building that business and many other illegal companies are being built as I write this.  The State Attorney offices across our country cannot keep up with the scammers.  That is one reason they get away with it, if you are asking.  When they get big enough they are shut down or the owners scam the builders and start something new.  Don't believe that because someone tells you they have integrity that it is true.
As for unfair compensation, although it's legal, is it ethical?

We have more than our business at stake each time we speak with someone about our opportunity.  Our prospect is looking for an extra income, or freedom from his job, or enough to pay for his retirement.  His or Her Hopes and Dreams are on the line.  No one can guarantee success, but if we kowingly mislead someone then we give our industry a bad name, ourselves a bad reputation, and we steal from the prospect.  Dreams and Money!  The money can be replaced but what about the dreams?

If you would like help identifying a good company please feel free to e-mail me.  I will send you the formula to check out the company.

Excellent!

Timothy,

I so agree with what you wrote! And we are so fortunate to have this site to learn from each other, get great ideas and not have our dreams taken from us!

Thanks for your insights!

Wishing you health and happiness,

Michelle

Well said Tim!

It would be unethical for me not to educate the masses on what is truth or lies as I've learned in the Mentoring for Free program. Once you find truth, its a responsibility to pass it on. You can't plead ignorance anymore!

Very Good

Tim,

It is good to know that there are ethical people like you out there!  Thanks for being you!

Well Stated!

There is not enough attention given to ethics this day and age.  We see so much unethical stuff out there, it is nice to know we have a system that protects people from falling prey to scammers if they take the time to listen.

Just Say no

When a person has  a few hundred dollars staring him in the face and he knows all he has to do is bend his integrity just a little it sure feels good when the decision has already been made that it is not going to happen.  Some things you cannot measure in dollars and cents. There is always another few hundred dollars to be made but you can never undo a bad decision.  Good work on your article.

Education

Tim,

That is all we can do is keep trying to get people to listen and understand. Some how they think they are immune.

I am working with someone now that claims to have read 10 steps and still dose not see his opportunity in the right light. He is in one of the worst. it is as though he is impervious to the words he read but i will keep trying.

Good job.

Our Guiding Light

INCREDIBLE Post, Tim!  I don't want to say that ethics and integrity are in short supply these days, but wouldn't it be great if EVERYONE practiced these in everything they did?  Ironically--although ethics was ingrained in me as a child, I also took Ethics as an elective college course.  Your question about it being ingrained from day one didn't even cross my mind at that time, but I completely agree!

You've hit a grand-slam with this one, my friend!  I, too, have gained incredible insight from the formula you speak of!

Good article

It's funny you should mention you know deep in your heart when something is right or wrong as so often we ignore those little voices, those deep stirrings.   When the brain starts working and adding up all the little negative stirrings the heart was speaking all along then recognition comes fast.  Then it's a matter of moving on with the experience you've gained to bigger and better things.  Being in a bad company isn't a mistake, it's a learning curve and your dreams can still be alive and well.   The mistake is only in staying in it when you know you are not achieving what you set out to accomplish which for most network marketers is financial success.

To your success,

Taking Care Of One Another....

It is really sad when I think of what is going on around me and drives us even harder to take care of whats been given to us!  Through education and building relationships we can Own Our Life and help countless others to do the same!  Thanks for shining your light Time!  Excellant writing!
