Is MLM the only marketing system making money in todays economy

I have observed 2 aspects of internet marketing over the past 8 weeks.

1). MLM opportunities are STILL generating income for many people online, and

2). Many other internet marketing gurus are simply not making the sales which they would normally expect in a healthy economy.

I have studied many product launches in the 8 weeks from 1st September to now, and I have noticed that many of the industry leaders have not “sold out” their products, and many have added extra bonuses etc...etc... in order to make the sale.

Aside from all the hype, BS and marketing ploys which some gurus have adopted, few will actually and honestly admit just how much that their sales are down due to the current global financial climate. However, this is simple economics, and many are increasing their advertising budgets etc... to maintain their revenue share.

However, I wanted to get other peoples opinion on this, and although the results may be biased (since we are on a networking site), I still feel that MLM and networking programmes are very profitable, and as more and more people turn to online marketing to generate incomes, surely it is the network marketing industry which stands to gain most out of this, since the timing is perfect for new, credible and viable opportunities to increase exponentially, while other aspects of online marketing often diminish in times of recession and stock market chaos.

So, the question is this. What would you recommend to a newbie today?

(i)            other forms of internet marketing (filled with many scams and BS), or

(ii)          some genuine MLM and Network Marketing Opportunities.
