Is Your "Lead System" Leading You Nowhere?
Using a slick lead system won't be enough to generate leads or attract them into your business--
I'm not saying never consider using a system to grow your business, because you should...
But if you think a system will do it for you, you're in for a bitter disappointment.
What Do You Bring to The Table?
You have to offer your prospects and team something more than JUST A SYSTEM if you want them to have a compelling reason to join your team, stick with you... AND duplicate you long-term.
Because... Anyone Can Sign Up With the Latest and Greatest Lead System.
But what makes you different? What will YOU contribute to your team's success?
It's difficult to enroll a prospect (did you notice??) without something to offer BEYOND just your system or product or company... Because a prospect could sign up and gain access to the same system you're using with any number of people.
If someone finds your "lead system" through your Capture Page and they're interested, they're going to go shopping for the best upline out there, if they're serious about doing something with it.
The "Big" One That Got Away...
Ever wonder why that 'great prospect' you were talking to stopped returning your calls and emails? Sure, they may have been interested in your system or opportunity, but not in you. A quick search on Google may have led them to someone else who had the same system or opportunity you do, but who had something more tempting on the hook.
That might be happening to you a lot more than you realize.
So how do you make it clear that you are your prospect's best ticket to success?
There's a way to actually be the leader people are seeking out.
And it's not a fuzzy touchy-feely type of thing... I'll give you tangible steps with detail on how to become THAT leader your prospects are seeking when they click on a link and submit your lead capture page form.
But here's the deal...
You have to do a lot more than just 'use' a system, even if that system allows you to brand yourself with videos and pictures... and even if your system promises to generate the most MLM Leads and cash-flow on earth... and all that JAZZ.
But before I give you the goods, I'd like to caution you:
"Don't make the mistake most do in the home-business industry who think what I'm about to share sounds like MORE work when it's actually less!"
Acquiring & Sharing Knowledge Builds Your Team. Period.
The Success Ingredients...
1. Continually develop your own business & marketing KNOWLEDGE so you continuously have something relevant to offer to your prospects and team. Otherwise, what "use" are you to them (the prospect or new downline member)? Why wouldn't I just go look for someone else who uses your same system or company/product... who knows something additionally about business and marketing that they can teach me?
2. You must demonstrate your knowledge and skills through your own marketing in addition to just a lead capture page and system you're using (even if it's you on the Lead Capture Page and inside the MLM system, because that alone is not enough). By setting up your own successful marketing (blogging, web 2.0, video, SEO, etc), you do more than just 'build your brand' and drive more people to your capture page -- you demonstrate what you know (showing "me" your value). That attracts people, and it's what they need to see continuously from you if you want to see them actually stick around in business with you.
3. You must be willing to teach what you know. This can be a lot easier by leveraging other educational resources. Understand that you can refer prospects and team members to more than one educational resource. In fact, you should consider doing this so you're reaching out to lots of different audiences with separate lead capture pages, messages and cash-flow strategies.
If you're not plugged into several educational resources and discussing them often, you're totally missing this part of the equation.
Be the conduit of good information.
You should always be directing prospects and team members to resources that teach them marketing and business development.
If you're brand new and are in the early stages of your own Attraction Marketing Business development, you don't have to be the instructor delivering the message in order to start 'teaching' (although at times you should try to be, by posting your opinions or giving a review at your blog or on YouTube, as just two examples).
Don't refer to just one coach or educational resource (because this will limit your prospecting to just that one camp or "tribe"). Ideally, you will generate cash flow as you refer to several resources. And since most educational resources are Funded Sponsoring Proposals you can earn as you learn, apply and teach others, all while generating leads using many different capture pages offered by your favorite systems.
Each 'system' capture page 'reaches out' to different audiences (ex: Magnetic Sponsoring, Building on a Budget, The Renegade Network Marketer, Renegade University, Renegade Professional, MLMLeadSystemPro, etc).
You don't have to use any of these systems to accomplish what I'm talking about. It's just easier because they provide different lead capture pages that 'talk' to different audiences... and they offer education you can learn from and refer to as you grow into a full fledged guru yourself.
Create your own lead capture pages outside of these systems as well.
It's important as your business develops that you create your own lead capture pages at some point, completely separate from ANY system. Otherwise you'll never grow into a leader in your own right. You'll always be limited by the systems and ideas created by others.
Sure, you can start out leveraging other systems as I've explained, and you can use them even as you start to make great money as a part of your business strategy. But at some point, you must start creating your own capture pages that do not tie into a system, but instead, tie into something you offer and sell on your own. You can (and I always will) keep leveraging a system or systems in addition to this, but if you don't go beyond that you'll always be following and NEVER leading.
If this sounds like a lot of work you're in trouble.
You have to change the way you look at your role in business or you'll forever be promoting other things and never growing a business of your own successfully. If you see what I just described as 'too much work' it's likely you'll be working years (if you haven't already been) pounding your head against the wall "trying to do things the easy way" until you finally step up to the responsibility of being a successful business owner.
Get It Straight! This IS The "Easy Way!"
What I'm saying is that if you follow what I'm sharing here, you will actually be doing it the easy way because you'll escape the illusion that you're building a business and actually build one once and for all.
Don't think that ONE system will do it all for you and your team. That's not realistic.
A system is a tool--nothing more. It might be a Super-Duper GREAT tool... but it will never be the 'everything' solution. You are the solution, leveraging many resources around you to build YOUR business, generate leads and make extra money while you do so.
Back to the main point:
By demonstrating you have business and marketing knowledge, and being willing to continually build upon it and teach others what you learn, it will compel prospects to want to join YOU (and they will actually seek you out over others).
By overly utilizing one lead generation system, method and message, you limit yourself significantly.
Here are 'just some of the areas' you want to develop your knowledge in:
1. How to get found on the Internet when people search for you, or for things related to what your business offers. Note that while MLM Leads are a good target audience to attract to you, you also need to learn how to attract other niche audiences, such as product specific leads, or company specific leads, or something like "home-based business seekers"... otherwise you're really limited as an upline and you'll be unsuccessful long-term as the industry changes).
2. How to Create a Blog
3. How to create other Web 2.0 content, written or video
4. How to Write content that attracts your target audience
5. How to position yourself and generate income as a coach
6. How to market your blog and web content through SEO
7. How to use the Consultative Approach to give value on the phone & attract prospects to your business
8. How to apply attraction marketing to the nutrition, travel or other product industries (rather than just attracting MLM leads).
9. How to Set Up Effective Lead Capture Pages that target different audiences related to your business.
10. How to set up an effective auto-email campaign for the target market of your choice (not JUST information for MLM leads... which again, is just one target audience you should know how to attract).
While systems will help make some of these things easier for you to set up and start doing, it's critical that you develop your own knowledge and skills or you will be clueless and unattractive to others seeking to find a business to duplicate long-term.
And even worse, if you ignore your responsibilities, you'll be lost as the home business industry evolves... and it WILL continue to evolve quickly. You must develop the skills to become a leader of the pack and a true contributor and player (that's where the money is). Money does not flow to the follower of systems who learn nothing more.
Here's the key to ensuring the BIG success...
To keep your team with you long-term (and a growing captive audience on your email list), you must demonstrate a constant and never-ending commitment to developing your skills and knowledge. You must share what you learn along the way. You must show your prospects and team that you are continually evolving. Then they will want to stay close to you... you'll attract more and more people to you.
THIS is how a business REALLY grows.
This will also create loyalty...
Your new team will stick around and duplicate your business regardless of the latest and greatest systems that come and go. If you develop your knowledge in business and marketing, you will build your team with confidence and competence. You'll never ask again, "What am I doing wrong?"or, "Why is this working for others but not me?" You'll stop being a victim in the industry and you'll become a success story. It's that simple.
If a new 'system' does appear on the scene (and they always do), now your team will stick with YOU long-term, even if they end up using a different system than you do down the road... Because you'll have knowledge and skills in business and marketing that make you indispensable to know.
More Work or Less?
If you think this sounds like more work (instead of less work) to get what you want out of your home business, think again. It is THAT belief that handicaps most people and keeps the failure rate high out there. But if you come to realize the truth of the matter, you'll stand out and join the success stories.
Should You Use an MLM Lead System of Some Kind?
Sure, use a system... you should. Use the one or ones you like most that make it easier for you to generate leads and to direct people to you and the things you offer in business. Use systems that allow you to monetize (funded sponsoring proposals, AKA: additional cash streams).
But don't stop there! To be valuable to others, you must continually seek out your favorite 'classroom' resources to keep yourself educated, and that make it easier for you to educate others so you and your team continue to acquire knowledge and skills in business and marketing. Websites like this one here at BetterNetworker.com can be a part of that.
There are also systems out there with a low cost to use as 'go-to' training resource (that go much more in-depth than the free resources and can move your business forward quickly). You can leverage such a resource to train others more successfully, while you generate more leads (because you can use its lead capture pages that allow you to reach out to another audience)... and you can monetize with it (if it's a funded sponsoring proposal).
Don't buy into what many systems try to sell you on (that their system is the one and only "Be All" solution for your success). It may be a great tool, but that's all it is.
Whatever you do, make it a top priority to continually develop your knowledge and skills in the business and marketing areas I've mentioned... it is an ongoing practice. Continually demonstrate to your prospects and team that you are developing this knowledge by sharing what you learn and referring them to things like your Blog or Other Web 2.0 Content.
I assure you, doing this will make your path to success significantly easier than if you continue to buy into the belief that you can develop a team by simply plugging into a system. Even if a system allows you to brand yourself, you must have more to offer to be an attractive leader.
Regardless of what anyone tells you (or what you want to believe), you must be an attractive business leader to succeed in network marketing, or any home-based business model that requires Relationship Building.
