Is Your MLM Upline Guiding You To Success?
Are you learning the tips and techniques from your upline that will lead to your success in MLM? Learn what to watch for.
You've taken the plunge and signed up to be part of someone's MLM downline. You sit back and wait for the riches to roll in and…nothing. Perhaps you get a couple of emails welcoming you to the downline and encouraging you to start selling right away. "Sure," you think, "I'll start selling when I know how you want me to sell the product."
Is your MLM upline guiding you to success or are they simply sitting back and waiting to profit off of your hard work? If an MLM business is to be successful, the business owner has to be an active participant in his or her downline. This goes for every tier of that downline. It shouldn't matter if you are in the first tier or the fourth tier of an MLM. Your upline should be supporting you and helping you to reach your sales goals. After all, their profits depend on you!
Think of it this way: MLMs are like a miniscule version of a chain store. The owner of the business might be sitting in an office in Ann Arbor but even the stock people in Newark understand the goal of the business and what is expected of them to keep the business running smoothly. If your upline isn't communicating with you, you might be better served by opting out of the downline altogether.
The best way to tell whether or not your upline will guide you to MLM success is to pay attention to the training process. If your sponsor (and his or her sponsor) work with you to develop your sales strategy and help you put your business together, you are probably part of a successful MLM. If, however, after you opt in, your sponsor simply sends you a "Thanks for joining" email and then never contacts you again (except, of course, to ask when you are going to start making a profit), you might think about opting back out.
Another sign of whether or not your MLM upline is guiding you to success is to pay attention to how they respond to questions. A good upline member will be receptive to your questions and do his or her best to answer them in a timely manner. A bad upline member will either take forever to answer questions or not answer your questions at all!
A good way to tell whether or not the upline of your MLM is worth working with is to contact other members of the downline. Ask your "coworkers" what their experiences with the MLM have been. You'll be able to tell right away if the upline will guide you toward success.
It is important that when you opt in to an MLM that your upline works just as hard as you to do ensure the business's success. If your upline isn't guiding you to success, you have two options:
1. Join another company on a team that is geared to helping its’ members succeed.
2. Get trained in effective lead generation techniques and start your own great team. At least you know what your downline expects from you!

Darrell,
Those are good words of wisdom for the upline, but what about the responsibility of the downline who is being helped but will do nothing? You can take the horse to the water, but you cannot make it drink. Success in MLM is a two way street. The upline helping and the downline doing what needs to be done. I don't like the fact that you suggest-change your upline. If your upline is doing nothing, there is somebody else up there and ultimately the company you can learn from. That is why this concept is so great. I think success in this business ultimately falls upon the individual distributor. If they want to succeed they will do it. Changing uplines or changing companies is like looking for that elusive thing outside of you. If people begin to treat their network marketing business as a business, the bad name this industry has earned may change. If one is not willing to hold themselves accountable, they should not get involved in this business. I have built a successful business without the blessings of my upline. Thank you!

IT'S GREAT TO HAVE A UPLINE CRIDIC OUT THERE AND YOU DEFINE WHAT AN UPLINE SHOULD BE LIKE. THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR WISDOM.
Dito!!
A lot of people come into network marketing with the idea riches will flow from the fountain. Most are never told how to grow a buisness they are only expected to sell. "Reason" the person they signed up under was never taught how to grow a business. Hence the unknowing chain becomes longer.
So many drop out, between the sponsor and the "top upline", the top never notices. Therefore many good or great prospects are lost in the never ending chain.
The mark of a good upline is a welcome letter no matter how far down the chain. Now as you get to the top that could be thousands, but with todays technology that should not be a problem.

Darrell, you are certainly right. I had no upline in my business, I had to go out other and educate myself to be successful. The best way to be sure you are at the right company, is to make sure the company has a proven System that Educates any person that has zero experience and is willing to learn and implement what he learn from the Training. The reason why I picked the company that I picked was because of the training, product, opportunity, and the people that we attract. Not the people that come in to one organization built get paid and leave to another get rich companies.
