Is Your "Professionalism" On Social Media Sites Killing Your Network Marketing Business?
There are still a lot of network marketers out there who don't seem to understand that there is a time to be "professional" and a time to kick back, relax, and be yourself. Social media is one of those places. Professionalism means you do what you say you're going to do and you treat your business like a business.
If you're a network marketer and you're using sites like twitter, myspace, youtube, or facebook, the biggest mistake you can make is pitching your website or business. These sites are the places to make friends. When you're there it's just like being at a big party. Have you ever been at a big party and you met someone who was totally rude and obnoxious? How did you feel about that person?
If someone follows you on twitter, follow them back. Don't be a twitter snob. After all, if you were at a party and someone came up to you and introduced themselves, would you turn your back to them and just walk away? Of course you wouldn't. Be sure to follow them back and send them a thank you note. Don't pitch your website in the thank you note, this is a bit twitter turn off. You can use a service like tweet later to set up auto followbacks and messages.
On youtube, I've seen so many videos of people telling you they can coach you and train you, but they never actually DO any coaching or training in their content. This is a big mistake because that is what most people searching for network marketing training online are really looking for. If you say you can train people then do it with your content. Don't make them opt in for it, but save your BEST content for the people that do opt in.
A lot of network marketers try to be something they're not on these social media sites, and trust me, people can see right through the B.S. The most successful network marketers are just very cool, "magnetic" people that everyone wants to hang out with, so be that person on social media sites as well. Remember to be your very best self every you go. Just because you're sitting at your computer doesn't mean that people still aren't people.
When you take these simple actions to heart and switch up your social media marketing strategy a little, you'll have much better results. (After all, you DID read Magnetic Sponsoring didn't you?)
To your success,

Hi Tim,
Great points about social media and network marketing. As I am new to the industry, what are your thoughts about creating a group regarding your business opportunity on Facebook and asking friends to join or take a look?
Cheers,
