It only takes 90 to get 10

It can be pretty discouraging...this business of internet marketing, network marketing and sales in general.  It's tough to get "no thanks;" "not right now;" "not interested;" day after day.  You keep putting your classified ads out there; you do reply marketing; you do solo email ads; you do Google adwords/adsense; you spend advertising dollars on traditional methods like postcards and newspaper ads...and you get leads and you talk to leads.

What if you knew that it would take 100 contacts to get 10 positive responses?  10 sales?  10 new distributors?  10 new clients?  Would you be willing to "suffer" 90 "no thank yous" to get the 10?

Business is a matter of numbers.  Think of it this way: you liked your product.  You bought it.  You liked the opportunity.  You said "yes" and paid your fee.  And someone sponsored you...someone told you about it...someone offered the product to you.  If you liked it, then given that this earth has billions of people living on it, there will indeed be that 10 in 100 that will like it too.  You just need to get through 90.

What happens, however, to too many of us, is that we get discouraged after getting 30, 40 or 50 no's without even one yes.  We take the no's as rejection, we take it personally and simply give up.  For all we know, our very next conversation will be a "yes," but we quit.  We didn't get through the 90 to get the 10.  Business takes determination, perseverence, and belief.

90 gets 10

Hey Linda,

Thanks for the post, it describes what I &  I`m sure many other new marketers experience at first.  I well know the feeling of personal rejection. It comes with the territory in the co. you & I are associated with. Actually, it`s the warm market system they prefer (almost dictate.) While it works to some extent, I came here seeking to learn different ways of doing business, preferably  ones  that don`t  involve  so  much  discouraging  activity.   I completely agree with you on what it takes to succeed,  & I am looking for  better ways. This looks like the place to find them. (Sorry if slightly off topic, maybe we could "discuss" better  privately.) Thanks again,lb
