Leaders: You can STEAL them or BUILD them! Pay Attention!!
In building your network marketing business there are two types of people who you will recruit. The first is a leader who already has a team or a large group and who has influence over those people. He has a built in business for the most part. Examples of these types of people are Mike Dillard, Oprah, The Jonas Brothers, Etc.. Getting these people into your business would be great but who has pockets deep enough to pay for this kind of leverage? Yes, these people would cost you up front cash to have them join your business no matter how great your business is.
The other type of person is a a simple guy that has never done this before. He will only cost you your time and his willingness to learn. He has no experience at a home business and he has never owned any type of business for himself. He has never been a leader of any kind. He is also the one who makes up 95% of your recruits. So what should you do with every prospect who becomes a rep? Send them to leadership camp. People with the biggest businesses have developed the most leaders in their organization. Not everyone will become a leader at the top but as long as they believe and continue they eventually will take on the leadership role. Like every other type of business there are the people who do nothing and there is those who are waiting for you to lead them to success. Those who will be successful and become leaders are the ones that ask you what to do and they go and do it. These are your leaders! The ones who aren't going to do anything are the ones that will give you excuse after excuse as to why they didn't get done what you told them to do. You can't build these type of people to leaders because their reason for doing the business is not big enough to get over their excuses.
Congratulate them for what they do but don't waste your time trying to get them to do anything. Just keep their volume in your business and thank them for being a "great team member". Let them know that you are there for them and let them know this often and they won't quit but will be just a great product user. Don't push them. Keep letting them know what is going on in the group and keep inviting them. When their why is greater than the excuses the excuses will take a back seat and they will be on the road to becoming a leader.
Your business will get big when you start creating leaders in your business!
