Lesson Plan for Chapter 6, Think and Grow Rich – Imagination
The Workshop of the Mind
(Lahai Sogbandi)
Napoleon Hill starts this chapter out by saying “The imagination is literally the workshop wherein are fashioned all plans created by man…It has been said that man can create anything which he can imagine.”
Let me paraphrase and repeat that second line: We can create anything which we can imagine! Of course, it’s not just the simple act of imagining something—other ingredients are also necessary, such as desire, focus and definiteness of purpose.
Of the two forms of imagination (synthetic imagination, which allows us to arrange/rearrange previous ideas or plans into new ones; and creative imagination, which allows our minds to connect with the universe, giving us “hunches and inspirations”), creative imagination—coupled with a burning desire is what catapults and transforms our thoughts and ideas into their physical counterparts. How insightful is that!
Mr. Hill explains that we must start our journey by reducing our plan(s) to writing. He also explains how every material form in the universe—from earth down to the billions of individual cells in our bodies—are made up of energy, and when we focus on our desires, which were created from our imagination, we are basically eliciting the service of the universe to assist in obtaining our desires; and that this “secret” is not a secret after all, as nature advertises it. We just need to pay attention.
“Definiteness of purpose” is a catalyst and a starting point in this process. It allows our imagination to take on a life of its own, which without would be like trying to navigate a sailboat without a sail—just drifting along wherever the tide decides to take us. We must decide what we want, when we want it, and act on whatever “hunches” we receive that even vaguely looks as though may help us reach our goals! We’ll never know what is on the other side of the door if (1) we don’t seek it out, and (2) walk through that door when we reach it!
Finally, we can leave a legacy by using our imagination and ideas! Mr. Hill finishes this chapter by stating “Ideas are intangible forces, but they have more power than the physical brains that give birth to them. They have the power to live on, after the brain that creates them has returned to dust.”
Profound…

Great lesson, Lahai
Everything begins with imagination.
We are as children so conditioned to to stop dreaming that
we slowly forget about the power of imagination.
Time to dream again!
I appreciate you,

Thank you, Lahai. A very thought provoking post, we must not forget that having an imagination is one of the greatest gifts we have ever received.

Imagination
Lahal,
This is truly a profound chapter in "Think and Grow Rich". In this chapter, I'm really amazed how Napoleon Hill he edifies us about imagination. Lahal, in all honestly, I believe at some point in our lives, we get so caught in our daily life, we forget about this part of life....
Great Piece,

Thoughts Are Things
Dreams and imagination though thoughts are how all great ideas are born, the most important advice I took away from this chapter is fact that you can't just dream your thoughts into reality you've got to write them down on paper this how the brain makes the connection from a dream into reality!
