making a good first impression
I am willing to admit that I am pretty new to this business. I consider myself extremely lucky because I have found Mike Dillard's info before I even really got going. I have been on-line for a few weeks now, reading and researching everything I can. I am amazed at how much I have already learned just by doing my homework. I have been to more web sites than I can count promising me immediate wealth while I sit around doing nothing. Well, we all know that is not the case. However, I have found one constant in visiting so many sites, that personally, was a huge turn off for me. I understand that not everyone who is doing this is a rocket scientist. However, for me, while I am looking for a leader to really help me build my business, nothing is more of a turn off than BAD GRAMMAR! It might sound silly, but I have been seeing grammar and spelling errors left and right on these web sites and articles. Don't get me wrong, I do not claim to be the know all of the english language, but we are trying to sell ourselves. What is it saying if our website has spelling and grammar errors on it? It projects the idea that either we are not that intellegent, or that we are in such a hurry we cannot take the time to check over for mistakes. The first thing I thought about these people is that if they are really making 7 figures then they should at least have the resources to make sure their articles and websites are properly put together.
As someone who is not a seasoned pro, I at least think it is worth letting some people know what people really think when they look at their sites. While we are all trying to brand ourselves and be unique, we might be overlooking some very basic stuff that can either make or brake your potential business. When searching around it is hard to want to be under the leadership of someone that does not know the difference between their, there, and they're. I am not pointing fingers at anyone, but if first impressions are so important, don't we want to make a good one?!

First impressions matte
Amanda,
You are absolutely correct as far as I'm concerned. I am new to attraction marketing and just learning how to implement it into my business but it seems that first impressions are important whether face to face or online. Oh wait, did I mean whether or weather? Just joking. Knowing if whether or weather or their, they're or there should be used is as important as knowing how to spell.
I recommend typing articles in a program like Word to at least get the spelling correct and then copy it over to the site.
To your success,
Steve
good impression
Amanda,
Yes, I would have to agree. Spelling is also a factor for me. It even bothers me when I make a silly error and I don't catch it until it's too late.
I realize we see people all over the world in this industry whose first language is not English, so I can see where they may have a problem with spelling.
But some of the errors are things we learned in grade school, right.
If this is a concern of ours, it must be for others too, so we can learn to be on our toes when it comes to writing copy.
Success to you in all you do,
Lynn Jones
Word problems...
Hi,
Yes, I'm a writer and its disconcerting to see errors... Here is my problem: I use word and then copy and paste it... but then it drops all of this annoying formatting stuff into my article. I haven't figured out how to get rid of this. Any ideas?
Mark :)
