10 Tips On Getting Your Common Name On The First Page Of Google

Read More: Marketing

Entering the Network Marketing business with a very common name can be a challenge, especially if you are Branding yourself in your website. What do you see when you type your name into Google? For the person that has a common name, you see millions of search results. So how do you get your name ranked on the first page of Google. There are 10 steps that you can take to improve your chances of ranking on the first page:

1. Set up your self-hosted Word Press blog, with your name in the title

2. Submit Articles to Ezine Articles Directory. This is a high traffic website that is ranked #149 most popular by Alexa. Make sure that you put your link to your blog inside the resource box in the bottom of your submitted article. Ezine usually takes about 5 business days to approve your article before it is posted.

3. Create a Facebook Account. Google indexes Facebook profiles very quickly. Once you have account set-up, make sure you enter all the information in your personal profile section. This is a very important step.

4. Join Linkedin. This is another free social media community, Again make sure that you completely fill out the personal information page

5. Write an E-Book. Include several links in your E-Book to your personal branded blog. Put your E-book for sale at at sites like Amazon, EBay, and Craigslist.

6. Open A Twitter Account using your name. If you have a common name I would suggest using your full name. Complete all the personal information section.

7. Post Feedback and Comments in High Traffic Websites. At then end of your comment always post your link to your blog.

8. Ensure That Your Blog Is SEO ( Search Engine Optimized). There is a great plug in for your blog called All in one SEO. Make sure that in each of your blog posts you are filling in all your keywords and post description into this plug in.

9.Use Google Ad word: Keyword Research tool . This is an awesome tool to research all your keywords

10. Change Up Your Outbound Links To Your Website. You do not want thousands of your links all pointing to your direct link to your blog. Google will think that you are trying to spam people and this will hurt your search rankings. You want to change up your links. Send the direct link to your blog posts: Examplehttp://jeffreymichaelmartin.com/5-deadly-mistakes-to-avoid-in-social-media-marketing

Great Article Jeffrey

That was a very "straight to the point" article, thank you very much. The only thing I haven't yet done is write an e-book but I wll one day for sure :) About the "All In ONE SEO" plug in I wanted to ask you something if you know to answer to me. I self-host my own WP blog already and have this plugin, I use it for every post I make.

The question is: Is it enough to complete the data that the Plugin asks me to for every post or should I additionally write the keywords to my standard WP dashboard, on the right where I would normally have to add keywords and categories for every post ( if I did not have the plug in)?

Is this abuse of the system if I do both? Or is it NOT necessary from the moment that I use the "All In ONE SEO" plugin each time?

Thank you very much in advance for your upcoming answer and for your worthy article.

Best Regards,

alter ego SEO

Great list of tactics! don't forget to pay some attention to your "handle" if you are known by one. I dominate the top several pages on google for my pseudonym (pawmarks) which I have been using since BEFORE THE WEB, and it's pretty important in my case because my name isn't exactly unique - steve johnson - I've lived in 3 major cities where there were multiple steve johnson's in the phonebook with THE SAME MIDDLE INITIAL AS MINE! grrrr...

more web assets that can help

Here are a few more that I use:

Build a blog FARM (you can do this for FREE using high PR sites like blogspot, wordpress.com and livejournal. Also, don't overlook "community blogs" that are offered free of charge on various e-communities (often forums like this one have blogging features)

Post your articles (preferably re-written) on other large article directories and Associated Content

Don't overlook Qondio - it's got traffic chops these days - http://pawmarks.qondio.com (free) (formerly known as Qassia - don't ask why the chose TWO goofy names - I have NO idea :)

Build your own forum. Slightly less SEO-yummy to the search engines than a Wordpress blog but it makes up for it in VISITOR-GENERATED CONTENT, and if you design it right, laser-targeted on the keywords you are working with. If you are the forum operator, it's open season on what you can do with it. Platforms popular today include PHPBB3 and SMF (Simple Machines) forum in the FREE category and vBulletin if you have a few bucks to throw at the ROLLS ROYCE script.

Start a wiki. What most people don't realize is the engine that runs underneath wikipedia, and wiktionary, and wikihow is all the same one, and it's TOTALLY FREE, and with a wee bit of homework, you can deploy it FOR YOUR OWN OPERATION. Unlike the above sites, which are painfully difficult to add pages to (the editing admin operates much like a POLICE STATE in those), you have full control over EVERY PAGE if it's your own wiki. What content can you put on a wiki? If you can imagine it, go do it! software is called Mediawiki - http://mediawiki.org - be sure to check server requirements - it doesn't run on just any old $3 per month shared hosing account!

Name Brading

It's becoming absolutely vital that you control the conversation around you name and business, these are great tips Micheal thanks for sharing.

I would also add creating a Google profile, and don't forget your picture along with a good description about yourself.

kevin thomas — Wed, 11/11/2009 - 4:39pm

Also...

Hey good strategies. Liked the one about posting ot specific blogs; will be doing that methinks.
Also filling in your Google Profile and Wikipedia entry about yourself, who you are, what you do, etc. Also maybe a squidoo lens: 'Who Is....?' So people can get background on you. This can be as informal / formal as you like. It's a trust builder.

Clarification on Facebook

Google CANNOT see or index Facebook profiles. Google can see Facebook Pages though and Facebook allows commercial use on pages but does NOT allow commercial promotion on your profile (anymore).

Hi Mel,
Your welcome. I have had success with Ezine. The articles that provide 10 tips, or 8 proven methods seem to generate more views. That is great that you are submitting on a daily basis. You should start generating some good quality traffic using this method.
As far as the E-Book, I am mostly just doing Google searches to help me accomplish this. Here is a good article to help you get started: http://www.thesitewizard.com/archive/ebookpublishing.shtml

Thank You Joanna

Hi Joanna,
Thank you for your comment. You are welcome. The E-book method can be very effective. Especially if your published E-Book goes viral, it could really take your business to the next level.

As far as your question about the SEO Plug-in, I believe that you only need to fill in the the All In One SEO section for your keywords. I do not think the other area is necessary since you are using this plug-in.

I hope this helped answer your question. Thank you so much for your comment!

To Your Success,
Jeffrey Martin
