Home Business Entrepreneurs : 6 Top Advertising Strategies

Now if you are a home business entrepreneur who has been in the industry for long, or you are just in the process of venturing into the market, either way advertising is and will always be one of the key issues which your business will need to tackle.

You will need to have a well-defined business advertising strategies in place which will involve the budget, design, message and the method which you will implement to get it out to reach your target group.  Despite the fact that all other factors are important, I tend to lay more emphasis on the advertising message as your goal with it is to generate new business opportunity or even to reinforce message to your existing customers. There are several options available for home business entrepreneurs when it comes to advertising.  You can advertise either online, offline or use a

combination of both strategies. So what are the online and offline advertising strategies available for home business entrepreneurs who work predominately solo and have the responsibility of doing a balancing act of meeting the customers’ needs and the business success?:

Offline Advertising:

When we look at Offline advertising it means hard copies.  This is the print media such as on newspapers, magazines and brochures or flyers which you have created.  Offline is also going on the press using electronic media services such as radio, television or cable advertising.  Some of these options are expensive and need to be carefully reviewed as far as your allocated budget for is concerned.

Online Media:

Online media which is an internet based advertising using options such as Pay Per Click, Banner Advertising, Per Per Impression, E-Mail Marketingetc., is currently one of the most effective way of reaching your audience and with prices that are manageable for home business entrepreneurs.  This is where the rubber meets the road.  This is where you are able to showcase your business, let your audience get to meet you as a result of being attracted or drawn by your killer advertising and offers you the best possibility of building relations and trust with your prospects.

Website or Blog:

With the introduction of Web 2.0 which offers a wide range of possibilities for both home business entrepreneurs and their prospects to engage with each other, we have seen from various researches that people nowadays use the internet extensive for researching on products and services and comparing prices and quality. For that reason your website or blog should be your home ground for using to advertise your products or services so that when you are using offline advertising, you are taking the advantage of sending people back to your website to get more information that they may need in order to decide whether or not to work with you or purchase your product.

E-Mail Advertising:

Unfortunately E-Mail advertising has over the years gain a bad reputation because of some of the behaviors of some businesses where they have been spamming their prospects or people on their list.  If you choose this as an option, then care has to be taken that you do not annoy your subscribers by spamming them.  Use it with respect, especially if people have opted into your list, then it is important that you recognize this respect by offering them content value and not scams or spams. E-Mail advertising is in actual fact the most cheapest form of advertising – it costs NOTHING!, expect it should be sent only to confirmed subscribers who have opted into your list and have signed up via your website.

Newspaper Advertising:

Although newspaper advertising is considered to be short lived, nonetheless it is effective if you use it for example locally when in your community events are scheduled to take place.  Magazine advertising is a lot more effective as has a longer life and can be done periodically again depending on the budget that was allocated. Consider cable television and radio if you can afford it.  These have a very loyal audience and accurate local reach all at a low cost.

Business Cards and Brochures:

Well the traditional Business Cards are still in and should be exchanged whenever you are meeting your customers on a 1 off 1 basis.  Your business card should not just contain your company logo and address, this is your corporate signature and therefore it should have some strategic information such as: The service or products that you provide:

  • Brand names
  • A killer slogan that will catch your prospects eyes and one that they will remember
  • Decide on whether you want to have it printed on both side, of even take the folded version offering you more space.

Which ever option you decide on, the most important aspect is that you want to have a professional looking advertisement which give you more credibility and not one that will destroy you.  That is why it is very important that you consider getting professional advise or spend more time in researching, getting other people's opinion before you get it published.
