How Much Is Your Super Bowl Time Worth?

Read More: Advertising

The 2012 Super bowl has come and gone. The game witnessed a record breaking television audience. More than one hundred and seventeen million TV audience watched the game. This huge audience created a mega market for the TV rights holder, NBC. This huge audience also meant that the price advertisers had to pay NBC for a second of the super bowl time shot up.

A thirty second advert on NBC during the Super Bowl cost at least two million dollars. This meant that NBC would not listen to anybody whose time was not worth at least two million dollars during the Super Bowl. A question begging for answer is how much are the members of the audience time worth as they watched the Super Bowl?

This question does not apply to only the audience watching the super Bowl but to everyone on this planet. Have you ever asked yourself how much your time is worth?

It is said hypothetically that Bill Gates time in seconds is so valuable that it is better for him to ignore a hundred dollar bill that drops from his hand. Each second he spends in bending down to pick that Hundred dollar bill is a huge economic lose because a second of his time is worth more that ten thousand dollars.

Have you tried to find out how much your time is really worth. What will someone be ready to pay you so that you will do something else with your time instead of what you are currently doing? If you are sleeping, how much will someone be willing to pay you so that you would stop sleeping?

In every establishment, there are two kinds of workers. The Available and the Desirable. If you are an Available, then you are highly dispensable because there a huge number of other Availables who are willing to take your place for a lower pay.

If you are a Desirable, it means your time is highly valuable to people and they will be ready to pay whatever it takes to own a part of your time. The Desirables are people who get whatever they ask for and more. A Desirable's time value is determined the way NBC values their Super Bowl time.

The question you must ask yourself is if you are a Desirable or an Available? If you can truthfully tell the value of your time, you can tell how far you can go in life.

Someone was willing to pay NBC two million dollars for thirty seconds of their time. Will what you are doing now place you in a position, in the nearest future where someone will be willing to pay you two million dollars for thirty seconds of your time?

If you do not think so, then know that you are just an Available whose space in life can easily be occupied by someone else without anyone noticing.

I once wrote an article in which I asked a question. I asked if you do not show up where you work, who will notice and what difference will your absence make to the establishment's earning per share?

Do some thing now about the value of your thirty seconds now.
